“That was so good,” she murmurs, rocking her hips a little and almost purring as she kisses me.

I stroke her back. “I didn’t hurt you?”

“Not at all.”

“I’m glad.”

“Was it good for you?” she asks, genuinely concerned.

“Oh yeah,” I say, my reply heartfelt, and we both laugh.

She sighs and rests her forehead against mine. “You know what I fancy right now?”

“Go on.”

“Tiramisu.”

I chuckle. “God, yeah. I could eat the whole dish on my own.

“Come on. Let’s take it into bed and eat it.”

She lifts off me, grabs a tissue from the box on the table, and dries herself without any self-consciousness at all, then grabs my tee and says, “Can I borrow this?”

“Of course.” I can’t put into words how much I love the idea of her wearing my clothes. While I pull on my boxer-briefs, she tugs it on, laughing as it falls down to her thighs, and I grab her as she goes to pass me and pull her into my arms.

“Thank you,” she says, sliding her arms around my waist and giving me a cuddle.

“What are you thanking me for?” I kiss the top of her head.

“For not rejecting me again.”

“I’m so sorry I said no before.”

“It’s okay, I understand. But I thought you were going to do it again, and it would have killed me.”

“I’m glad I didn’t.”

She squeezes me, then takes my hand and leads me over to the kitchen. “I definitely need chocolate now.”

I retrieve the bowl from the fridge, and she gets two spoons and some bottles of water. I turn off the TV, and we go through to her bedroom.

“Will you stay with me tonight?” she asks, climbing onto the bed.

I go around to the other side, pull back the duvet, and get in. I wait for her to settle, and place the dish of Tiramisu between us on a pillow.

“Is your lack of reply a no?” She settles beside me.

I take the spoon she offers me, and hesitate. “I don’t sleep well.” I dig the spoon into the creamy Tiramisu and have a mouthful. “Oh, that’s good.”

She does the same and closes her eyes dreamily. “That’sreallygood. Mm.” She scrapes some of the cream around the side of the bowl. “Maybe you’ll sleep better after some exercise.” Her eyes twinkle as she slides the spoon into her mouth.

I chuckle. “Maybe. But I’m serious—I toss and turn a lot, and I often get up.”

“That’s okay. It’s just…” She frowns and studies her spoon. Then she looks up at me and smiles brightly. “I understand if you’d rather not.”

I watch her concentrate on the dessert, my heart going out to her. What was she about to say? That she wants some company? Someone to hold her at night? It’s not too much to ask.

“Of course I will,” I say softly. “I apologize in advance, that’s all, if I’m restless.”
