"You're stubborn."
"Not as stubborn as you."He kissed me lightly."How do you feel about spending the next day in bed, watching stupid cake shows and doing absolutely nothing else?"
"I feel insulted that you called my cake shows stupid."
"Fabulous cake shows,"he drawled.
"Then I feel absolutely on board. As long as you don't put clothes on."
"Not a chance. You're staying naked, too."
"That's only fair,"I agreed.
The grin he flashed me wasn't all wolf.
It was all Rhone.
And it was fucking perfect.

RHONE—SEVERAL MONTHS LATER
"We can't beout of powdered sugar," Bloom said in disbelief.
We were nearing the end of our first Vampire/Werewolf Cake Off, as Bloom and Harper had decided to call the family cake baking competition that they'd announced was going to be a yearly Christmas tradition.
We'd be meeting Bloom's family for a holiday dinner that evening, but we had a few hours until then.
"We used the last of it," Maverick said with a grin.
"There wasn’t much," I clarified. "It’s been a long time since I bought baking ingredients."
Our mates had come up with the idea during the massive breakfast we cooked and ate together, so there hadn't been any shopping in preparation.
"We’ll steal their frosting," Harper told Bloom. "No biggie."
"You can’t steal someone else’s frosting in a cake competition," Mav argued.
"You can if they used all of the powdered sugar," Bloom tossed back.
Harper tapped into her vampire speed, and I handed her the bowl. Our cake was already frosted, and, to use my mate’s favorite adjective, interesting.
Theirs was unfrosted, but perfectly symmetrical in a way ours definitely wasn't.
"We're fucked. Just let them have the frosting,"I told Mav through the pack link.
"I told you we should’ve teamed up with our mates," he grumbled back.
"They’re totally having a mental conversation," Harper complained. "I bet they’re talking shit about our cake."
"She’s beautiful, and delicious," Bloom said, in the process of adding a few ingredients to the frosting they’d stolen. "Mav hasn’t cooked since they were kids, so he’s hopeless. And I can’t see Rhone choosing to make a cake when he has the option to grill up a big chunk of meat. They’re all about the protein."
"True. Rhone drinks two of those nasty fortified protein shakes every morning. He has to, to maintain the bulk." Harper gestured toward her arms, flexing her tiny biceps.
"Mav does too. I saw him crack a few raw eggs in his one morning, when he thought I wasn’t looking."
Harper made a gagging noise.
