"You'll never know," she said coolly. "Take me back to your tower. Interrogate me. I dare you."
I tore her throat out.
I didn't need to interrogate her. Neve had told us enough. What we didn't know didn't fucking matter. If something went wrong because of it, we'd deal with the consequences.
The woman was too much of a threat to take back to the tower.
I stepped away when she was dead, and two of the enforcers came jogging out.
"Get the body back to the tower," I told them, striding back toward the door that led into the warehouse.
"Yes sir," Liz called over her shoulder.
I flipped her off, and heard her laugh.
It didn't budge the harsh look I wore.
I wasn't me. Not at the moment. Getting back to that would take time.
I would get back, though. For Harper.
Noneof the turned vampires had run, and they all looked horrified as I reentered the warehouse. It worked in our favor. None of them fought.
Maverick slapped me on the back and sent someone to grab me a pair of shorts.
Our enforcers were in the process of getting all of them into the back of our transport van. They weren't a real risk yet, but they could become that easily.
Mav and I drove the van, just to keep an eye on them, but the drive home was laid-back.
The drama was finally over.
CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO
harper
Bloom and Maverickwere waiting in the lobby with me when Rhone and the enforcers finally made it back.
My mate was covered in blood and wearing an expression colder than I'd ever seen on his face, but his gaze still went to me first. He looked me up and down, then nodded at me.
From Rhone, it may as well have been an "I LOVE YOU."
If it was the only one I ever got, it was enough for me.
After he exchanged a few words with Maverick and some of the enforcers, Rhone strode over to me.
He took my head in his hands and tipped it from side to side, like he was checking for wounds, before nodding his approval.
He said into my mind, "You're bloodthirsty. Go to the dining hall. Food will help. You can bite me after I get things settled with Maverick and the turned vampires."
"I'm fine."
He shot me a look that said he wasn't asking.
I shot one back that said I wasn't following orders.
After a beat of hesitation, Rhone took my hand and tugged me into the lobby's bathroom. It was rarely used, and smelled of stale cleaning supplies.
He locked the door behind himself and pressed me against it lightly. "Stay right here."
