“A lil bit,” Alan said seriously.
I rolled my eyes.
“I wish Trapp would try to run up on me again tonight.”
“That nigga ain’t that stupid,” Shade said as he set a blunt in his mouth and lit it. “Y’all want me to come too?”
“We’re good. I think Alan can handle it.”
“Nah. Come.” Alan nudged his head toward the door. “I’ll walk Charm straight to her car and you can walk Myome.”
“A’ight.” Shade hit his blunt then set in the ashtray. “Come on.”
The men walked us to our cars and Shade stayed in the parking lot until I turned onto the street.
I listened to Drix’s new album while I drove home. When I got there, I found him in the kitchen, shirtless and mixing pasta on the stove.
“You’re home.” I bounced a little bit as I walked over to him.
“Yeah.” He threw an arm around me and we kissed quickly. “I told you I’d be home more.”
“You did. You did.” I looked up at him. “And you surprise dropped your album this morning.”
“I did.” A big smile took over his face. “I talked to my pops and I don’t know. I just wanted to get it out.”
“Well, congratulations.”
“Thank you.”
“I started listening to it and that intro…” I lifted an eyebrow.
“You ain’t fucking with it?”
“I didn’t think you’d really use it,” I admitted.
“And what do you think? You want me to wash it?”
“No. No. I think it’s cute and very… you.”
“Good.” He let his hand fall from around me so he could shift his pot to a back burner. “You like the new producer tag?”
“I love it.” I smirked as I walked to our little pantry of wine bottles and grabbed one.
“Good because it ain’t changing.” He took a step back and yanked the oven open.
“I need to get back to my producer training,” I said as I grabbed a corkscrew.
“And album,” Drix added as he grabbed the pan of garlic bread and set it on the stove.
“Yeah, and my album,” I agreed as I walked over to him.
“And speaking of you and your music…” He grabbed the bottle and opener from me. “How was your session with Charm and ol’ girl?”
“Stupid, but we’re done now and that’s all that matters.”
“You’re right. You got it done and we can all move on now. Shit. I know Charm is happy. She probably has enough music recorded with me to put a decent EP out tomorrow if she wanted to.”
“Yeah. That is exciting.”
