“And?”

“Panic attack. They come and go and it’s not lethal. My heart and blood pressure and all that shit is cool. It was a fluke.” I shrugged.

“Just because it just started happening doesn’t mean it won’t happen again.”

“I know.”

“So let’s try to minimize that possibility by not getting all worked up or overworking and not eating, okay?”

“A’ight. I got you.” I nudged Chandler with my elbow lightly. “You ain’t got to look out for me like you did when we were kids, Chan. I’m a grown ass man now.”

“And you’re still my little brother.”

“Yeah. I hear you.” I pulled my phone out of my pocket when it vibrated and saw it was Job. “I’ll hit you later though. I’ve been waiting on this call.”

“Yeah, okay.”

“Kiss my nieces for me.” I gave my sister a quick hug and picked up the call. “What’s up?”

“Mr. King, we’ve been waiting for your call.”

“Yeah, man. Life has been a little crazy,” I admitted. “But I wanted to talk about our collaboration.”

“Of course. What can we do for you?”

“I’ve looked through all the sketches sent to me and I’m not really feeling any of them. I was thinking we could bring someone on for the design.”

Job cleared his throat.

“We’re not against it,” he stated carefully. “What would this cost us?”

“Three grand flat with full ownership of the design and copyright.”

He exhaled. “Alright, Drix. We can do that, but if we do this, we need to see some of this money back quickly. So we’ll be expecting you to prioritize this.”

“Yeah. I’ve got you. I have a sit down later tonight with someone from your team to talk about the functionality of the headphones. I’ll get the design to y’all by tomorrow or the day after and we can get them made. I’ll be on tour, which is actually perfect. I’ll let y’all know where I am so y’all can send them over and I’ll get them battle tested while I’m on the road.”

“Fine. We can do that.”

“A’ight thanks. I’ll be in touch.”

“Of course. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to email us.”

I hung up and immediately dialed Alan while I pressed the button on the hospital elevator.

“Hello?” He yawned.

“Wake up and get dressed. We’ve got work to do.”

“Drix?”

“Who else?”

“You know this is Alan, right?”

“Yeah. I know who I called.”

“Alright.” He yawned again. “I’ll be ready.”
