“We negotiating or what?”
“I got to negotiate my own fucking alone time?”
“Going once?” I pushed.
“And I want you to drop your album.”
I let my head fall forward and scoffed.
“It’ll be out soon.”
“And since we’re not lying to each other moving forward, you mean that, right?” he asked. “I won’t lie about my health and you won’t lie about your music, right?”
“Yeah.” I nodded. “Alright.”
“Alright,” he repeated.
I pushed up and closed in on my dad.
“If anything changes, you better call me, man.”
“I will. I promise.”
“A’ight.”
I looked around the room carefully then nodded and slowly let myself out. I glanced at my pops through the door, closed myeyes, took a deep breath, and forced myself to actually leave the hospital.
I rode to the studio in silence, parked in my designated spot, and sat there for a few minutes before hopping out of the car and heading inside.
When I got to the studio, Shade was sitting at the soundboard with Alan, his phone in hand while he bobbed to the music playing.
“What’s up?” I pushed the door shut behind me and they both climbed up.
“You made it out of the hospital?” Alan smiled as he dapped me. “How’s OG Drix?”
“He’s good, man. He’s still contrary and talking shit, but he said he’s feeling good.”
“Something is wrong with your dad?” Shade asked.
“Yeah. He’s been in the hospital.”
“Damn. I’m sorry to hear that.”
“Yeah. Myome ain’t say that?”
“Nah. She just said you were out of the office and we couldn’t contact you but I’m glad y’ all are good.”
“Me too.” I sat in the closest chair.
“Your wife is doing her fucking thing as acting CEO though.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Yeah.” Shade sat on the couch and Alan sat back in his original seat.
“I want to hear all about it after we get this track laid.”
“A’ight. Well, Alan, let him hear what we’ve got so far.”
