“Five more minutes.”

“Okay.”

We sat in comfortable silence while we came down, and after cleaning ourselves, I found myself sitting on his desk while he collapsed into his chair.

“I’m excited about this,” he admitted.

“Me too.” I nodded. “Shit is getting real.”

“Yeah.” He scoffed. “Shit is getting real,” he repeated and his eyebrows knitted together when his phone rang. He quickly grabbed it and picked it up when he saw the name. “What’s up? Yeah, I can do that. I’ll be there. See you then.” He hung up and tossed his phone back on the desk.

He exhaled and let his head fall backwards.

“What?”

“Your brother finally caught Monica. I’m getting a DNA test.”

“Congratulations.”

“Thank you.” He shook his head. “I’m ready to be done with all that shit to be honest.” He slid a hand up my leg to my knee and let it rest there while he tapped his phone screen.

When he finished texting, he slid his phone into his pocket and climbed to his feet.

“You want a tour?”

“Do you want me to have one?” I lifted an eyebrow.

“Yeah. Come on.” He offered me his hand to help me off his desk and led me out of his office.

We started downstairs, where there was a large waiting area, a breakroom complete with a full kitchen setup and vendingmachines, and a locked door at the end of the hall that hid four recording booths. Everything looked like it was coming together.

When he walked me back upstairs, he showed me the only two offices that were also decorated, one for Chandler and one for Allison. There were a few other offices but they were empty and locked. Another receptionist desk was directly across from their offices and a few yards from Drix’s.

“Have you hired a receptionist yet?”

“For downstairs? Yeah. For upstairs? Nah.”

“How’s the downstairs one?”

“I don’t know. Chandler did the interviewing and hiring. I’ve never met her.”

“But it’s a her?”

“It is.” Drix leaned against the receptionist desk and crossed his arms over his chest.

“Interesting.”

“And why is that interesting?” He reached for my hips and pulled me in.

“Because every woman you’ve spent time with outside of Charm has tried to hit on you.”

“I won’t be interacting with her face to face for real, Yo.”

“Mhm.” I cut my eyes at him. “Just make sure she doesn’t think you’re cute.”

“So no straight women? Got it?”

I cut my eyes at Drix and he chuckled.
