“Get ready to go.”
“Yeah, yeah.” I trailed my hand up the front of her body to her throat. I grabbed it lightly and she let her head fall back so I could look at her little pretty ass.
I leaned down and kissed her again.
“I had a meeting about getting Charm out of her contract.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Yeah.” I let her go and she spun to face me.
“Well, what did they say?”
“They’d agree to what I offered if they could get you and Charm to do a public sit down with Retta for damage control and a goodbye song.”
“A goodbye song?”
“Yeah, one last track as Radiant Reverie to close the chapter.”
“And what did you say?”
“That I’d talk to you and let them know.”
“And it’s one song and one interview? That’s all?”
“That’s all.”
She nodded. “Okay. I can do that.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah. I’d planned on biting the bullet for three whole albums. I can handle one song.”
“Alright. I’ll let them know then.”
“Thanks, baby.” Myome spun back to the mirror and I couldn’t help smiling at her reflection before I left.
I collapsed on the couch, smoked a joint, and checked my email until Myome came downstairs ready to go.
The headphones company I’d partnered with were scheduled to release to the public in less than a week, so I’d set up an opportunity to do some promo. It wasn’t anything crazy. I was just going to a popular store carrying them for a little meet and greet, some shit I hadn’t done since I’d toured with the release of my first album.
I wasn’t the type of man who liked to get run up on and I wasn’t typically friendly, so people who wanted to meet me knew better than to try to force that shit on me. This wasn’t just promo for the headphones but would serve as promo for my upcoming album as well.
Anytime I’d been seen and associated with music recently had been for someone else. My feature for Bino’s album was catching traction and I was credited for some hits on Rome and Merch’s album. Before that, I had that shit with Monica all in the blogs, and before that, I was promoting Radiant Reverie’s music and staying under the radar.
I couldn’t stay out of the way and promote a whole label.
When we pulled up, there were already people lining up outside to grab the first releases. There were four security guards standing in front of the door with Chandler, Rome, and someone from the company. I hugged my sister, dapped up the men, and shook the woman’s hand.
“What’s up?”
“I’m Marianna. I’m here to help make sure everything goes according to plan. We’ve already unloaded boxes and the sets you asked to have customized are at your table.”
“A’ight. Thanks.”
“Of course.” She moved to the side and I waved at the people gathered outside before yanking the door open and gesturing for the women to head inside.
I walked Myome over to the table they’d set up for me, then went with Chandler and Marianna so they could give me a rundown of how things were going to work and show me which colors they’d decided to bring out. Their plan was to sell black, white, blue, and brown headphones. There were plain sets and sets with designs in lighter shades of the same colors, all designed by Alan. I had thirty gray sets made just for me though, complete with the Trill Loyalty Records logo on one side and a pair of each design they offered all put in a shadow box case that I planned on gifting to Alan the day they became available online.
