Dashawn introduced us. “This is Drix’s wife Myome and her homegirl Charm.”
Several heads nodded once in our direction and I just smiled.
“When is Shade up?”
“The match’s haven’t even started. They’re trying to fill the last three slots.”
“Me and Dashawn want slots,” Drix said.
My head snapped to the side. “You battle rap?”
“I do a lil bit of everything, baby.” He smirked. “Ay!” He barked at Alan. “Keep yo’ eyes on my wife, nigga,” he instructed. “Dashawn, come on. Let’s go buy in.”
“Nigga, I don’t even know the last time I battled.”
“Shit. I haven’t battled in about eight years but the shit gon’ be fun. Come on.”
He exhaled and shook his head.
“Rome, you want in?” he asked.
“Hell fuck no.”
We all laughed and Dashawn and Drix headed into the crowd.
Charm moved over to my side and we linked our arms together.
“Thanks for inviting me out.” She let her head fall on my shoulder. “Retta is driving me fucking insane.”
“Have you tried punching her?” I asked seriously.
“No.” Charm laughed. “I mean… I’ve thought about it but I don’t think that would be a good look considering they’re trying to rebuild the group.”
“Punch her first and ask for forgiveness later,” I deadpanned.
“That’s starting to sound better and better.” Charm checked her phone then shoved it back in her pocket.
“How y’all feeling?” Alan threw his arms around our shoulders and leaned into us.
“So far, so good.” I admitted. “How are you feeling?”
“Amazing and I just had another designing job offered to me.”
“With the same headphone company?” Charm grinned.
“That’s right. They want a special limited edition design for the tenth year of the company and they loved the design I did for Drix so much they offered it to me without having to submit concepts.”
“Congratulations.” Charm turned and hugged him.
“Congratulations,” I added.
“Thank you, and when that check clears, lobster for everybody.”
Charm snickered. “Shut up.”
“I’m dead ass.” He shrugged. “And we gon’ get fucked up.”
“When are you not getting fucked up?” Charm lifted an eyebrow.
