“What’s the time slot?”
“Well, we have our artists doing somewhere between six and ten songs, but honestly you can do whatever you want and I’ll thank you for it.”
“Ideally?”
“Ten songs like a headliner?”
“Is Drix going to perform our song?”
“I’m sure he can be persuaded.”
“Sure and I want Charm.”
“You want Charm?” I repeated.
“Yeah. I have a good song written. I need some vocals. I think Charm would be good on it.”
“I’ll pitch it to her.”
“A’ight. I’ll be at the fundraiser. Just let me know the date and time.”
“I’ll have Steven reach out to your team.”
“Thanks.”
“Welcome.” I hung up with a smile and didn’t hesitate before dialing Jameer who answered on the fourth ring.
“Mrs. King?” He sounded genuinely confused by me calling.
“The one and only.”
He chuckled. “What can I do for you?”
“I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Trill Loyalty is helping host a fundraiser for a women’s shelter and we were wondering if you’d be interested in performing.”
“I actually have heard about it but I’m not going to be able to make it. I’m heading to Europe for a tour in three months. Between recording, rehearsals, and prep, I don’t have the time necessary to get ready for that kind of show.”
“Well you suck,” I deadpanned and he laughed. “Congratulations on the tour though.”
“Thank you.” He exhaled. “What if I fill two slots for you?”
“What?” I scoffed.
“B. Lynn owes me a favor.”
“Thee fucking B. Lynn?” I checked.
“Yeah.”
“You would use your favor with thee B. Lynn for me?”
“I mean, I’ll be needing a favor back.”
“And you’ll have to take that up with my husband, Jameer. I don’t believe in putting my signature on papers he hasn’t looked over and I don’t agree to deals he isn’t privy to.”
“Well, I’ll reach out to him and let him know what I have in mind. In the meantime, I’ll have B. Lynn call you.”
“Sounds good, Jameer. Thank you.”
