His hands went to her hips to guide her, and he shifted forward to bring himself to the edge of the chair.

“Take it,” he growled against her ear, once more giving her orders but ones she’d gladly obey. “Take all the pleasure you want.”

With a soft cry, she bore down on him and did exactly as he wanted. Her hips bucked wildly against his as she bounced over him, and her ankles locked together at the small of his back for leverage. Each thrust of her hips was delicious, each of his groans the most erotic sound she’d ever heard.

“That’s it, darling…just like that.” He rested his forehead against her shoulder, briefly shutting his eyes against the pleasure she brought him by claiming her own. But instead of trying to wrench control away from her now, he let her go, granting her the freedom to move—to make love to him—however she wanted.

Her chest tightened even as fire licked at her toes. He’d changed the rules on her, and the realization terrified her. Somewhere between ordering her to undress and this moment, he’d managed to maneuver her into believing she was in control when each passing heartbeat only brought her closer to surrendering. Each movement to wrest control from him only made her want to give him even more.

He thrust up hard beneath her, plunging himself impossibly deep inside her. Once, twice—with a last driving push, he groaned and stood. He lifted her from the chair with him, and she was forced to wrap her body around his to keep from sliding to the floor. Never leaving her tight warmth, he carried her to the bed, placed her onto the mattress, and followed down on top of her.

He whispered her name with so much affection and respect that he overwhelmed her.

A sob tore from her, and her arms tightened around him as she felt herself begin to fall. But the only man in the world who could catch her was the same one sending her over the edge.

She shattered in his arms.

Her heart followed a single beat later.

“Damnation, Baroness.” Nate scowled as he reached up to rub his shoulder. “I think you left claw marks.”

Smiling wickedly at him, she handed over the bottle of port she’d slid out of the bed to fetch.

He sat back against the pillows propped along the headboard and gave her a long, leisurely look that made her blood boil. Again. They were both naked, having shed what little was left of his clothes. Now, he lay across her bed as if he had no intention of going anywhere until dawn.

She certainly hoped he didn’t.

Heavens, what a magnificent sight he was. Even now, lying naked in the bed with his manhood resting against his thigh, he was impressive. And the things he could do…oh my.

Before the night was over, she hoped he would do those things to her again.

She crawled back into bed and curled up against his side. She was unable to resist the magnetic pull of him, and even now her body ached with sweet anticipation of making love again. Her hand brushed over his broad chest, and she smiled at the way his muscles quivered beneath her fingertips.

She placed a shy kiss to his chest. Sex had never been like this before. Oh, it had been nice. Michael had been so gentle, so tender… In truth, she could barely remember now what it felt like to be with Michael, except that she knew she’d been loved. But never had she cried out so helplessly with him the way she did with Nate, and she’d certainly never had the urge to scratch him.

A bubble of laughter escaped her.

“What is it?” he asked and brushed his hand leisurely along her side.

She lifted up to smile at him. “I was just thinking about how amazing you—” She froze, her eyes focusing on his forearm. “You’re bleeding.”

His gaze flicked dismissively at his arm, then back to her. “Your fault.”

She scrambled off the bed and snatched up the discarded shirt on the floor. She jabbed a finger at his arm. “How is that my fault?”

“You distracted me, and I didn’t realize I’d strained it.” He opened his arms. “Come here and distract me again.”

She gave him a scowl to tell him what she thought of that idea, then ripped a strip of cloth from the bottom of the shirt and gestured at him. “Hold out your arm so I can tend to it.”

Without complaint, he did as she asked. She sat on the bed next to him to untie the soiled bandage.

“If you tore out my stitches, Nate Reed, I swear I’ll put them back with nails and glue until—” She paused as sudden suspicion raced through her. He was being accommodating.Tooaccommodating. Her eyes narrowed. “Why are you cooperating so easily all of a sudden?”

He shrugged. “If a naked nurse wants to put her hands on me, who am I to stop her?” When she opened her mouth to give him the biting retort he deserved, he added, “Besides, you just made that shirt shorter. Which means it will only be a greater distraction when you put it on again tomorrow night.”

She slid him a narrowed glance as she carefully applied the new wrap around his forearm. “What makes you think I’ll wear that shirt again?”
