Chapter Seven

River

Three days.

For three days she’s brought me lunch. I’m actually considering having her banned from the building. I can’t deal with this anymore. I’m going to snap and I’m not sure what that will look like. It could go either way; either I say something that even I will regret, or I kiss the fuck out of her. I’m leaning towards the latter as I stare at her plump pink lips as she runs her tongue along them.

“That was delicious, definitely the best so far.”

I didn’t taste a damn thing of what I ate, she could have fed me horse shit and I wouldn’t have known.

“I’m out of the office the next two days, so whatever the fuck this is that you’re doing at the moment, will have to stop.” I wasn’t meant to be out, but I am now; I’ll work from home if I have to, anything but sit through another two lunches with her.

“Mmhmm,” she hums as she walks around my office again. She does it every time she finishes her food. Her eyes land on the portfolio I left on the shelf.

Shit.

She reaches for it and I’m up and out of my chair in seconds, crowding in behind her and closing my hand over hers on the folder.

“No,” I rasp as my body presses into the back of hers. My nose nestles into her hair and the smell of her surrounds me as I breathe her in; it’s a floral, dark, exotic scent — she’s damn intoxicating. She leans back into me and turns her head so our noses touch.

“What’s in this one that I can’t see? You’ve not had an issue before.” Her breath skates over my lips and I nearly fall to my knees. It would be so easy to kiss her right now.

“It’s private,” I whisper. Her eyes travel down my body.

“Well, maybe one day I’ll get to see it.” Her eyes are fixed on my crotch as the words leave her mouth and my hard cock leaks in anticipation.

Fuck me.

I step back from her before I make a major mistake.

“You need to go.”

She blinks up at me, her pupils dilated.

Damn it, baby, don’t do this to me.

“I’ll see you soon, River.” Her words are a promise as she walks out of my office, but to me they’re a damn threat.
