“Of course you are.The guys are rough and course, the place is a mess half the time, but you’re welcome there. You’re always welcome in my office there. There are a few places that are off limits, but I don’t think you’ll want to go in most of them.”
“Off limits?”She frowned at him, clearly confused.“Why wouldn’t I want to go there?”
Hex lifted one shoulder and let it fall.“Most of the places I won’t want you going are into the brother’s rooms.”
“Rooms?What kind of rooms?”
The wrinkles on her nose were adorable and made him want to lean in and kiss them away.He didn’t think she would find it as cute as he did, so he stayed here he was.
“Bedrooms.”
Her frown turned to a scowl as she tried to think it through.
“They all live there?”
“Some do.All the officers have houses here on the compound, and we’re working to get houses for anyone who wants them, but we can only build so fast.”
“You build them?”Elle’ eyes went wide.
“We all have different parts we’re better at, and we’re still learning some of it, but yeah. The Warriors built this place. We started doing it because it’s cheaper, but you know what it means?”
“What?”she asked.
“If you want more room, we can add it.You want to change something? We’ve got someone who can figure it out and make it happen.”
“Even if I want a total remodel of the kitchen, with new cabinets and a deep pantry?”
Hex swallowed, he hadn’t thought she would want changes that large scale, but if that was what she wanted, he’d make it happen.
“Even if.”
“Wonderful.I’m not ready to make any changes, at least nothing that big.But it’s good to know I could if I wanted.”She leaned forward and rested her cheek against his chest as she wrapped her arms around his middle. He found himself smiling as he held her back.
Hex couldn’t help but shake his head.If someone had told him, even twenty four hours ago, that he would be here, holding her today, he would have laughed in their face. But now, as he held on to her and they talked about raising their child he knew there was nowhere else he’d rather be.
He didn’t know how long he stood holding her, but he stayed there until she pulled away.
“I need to change if we’re going up to the clubhouse.”She slid off the stool.
“Why?”
“Because I’m not presentable.I can’t go in public looking like this.”
“I wouldn’t call the clubhouse public, sugar, and you’re far more dressed than the other women.”
She turned and frowned at him.“That’s not making me feel better.”
He didn’t know what to say, so he let her go change clothes.Sometimes it was better not to argue.
Chapter Eighteen
Elizabethstraightenedhershouldersand kept her head up as she let Kevin lead her into the clubhouse. She’d heard stories about the wild things that happened in motorcycle clubs, but she hadn’t paid much attention, as she never anticipated visiting one much less setting up household in the middle of one.
How quickly her life had changed.
Stepping through the door, she blinked several times, trying to get her eyes to adjust to the dimmer light.Kevin stayed right beside her, as if waiting for her to say or do something. When she could see, she looked around the room and couldn’t help the surprised double take at women wandering around in almost nothing.
There were a couple in bras and g-strings that looked like what they were, underwear. But there were others, they wore the same items, but they were lace and sequins and looked more like costumes than anything else she could think of.Her face heated. She tried to look casual about it, but knew she was wide eyed and must look like a nun in a nudist colony.
