“No,” I muttered, wondering if she would be the death of me. But then again, death by Patty’s pussy was a hell of a way to go.

He said he wanted to go to the bar, and I was all for it. After showers, we needed food and drinks, and I was game.
Especially if we were planning another full night. Because damn, that man’s stamina was insane, and I wanted more. In fact, I wasn’t sure I would ever really get enough, and that was kind of scary. Because I didn’t know where this was going.
I wasn’t up for sharing, wasn’t up for a relationship. I was fine with a friends with benefits thing because my life was super busy with the diner anyway.
“Now who is thinking too loud,” he told me, bumping my shoulder as we sat on the stools, having a burger and sharing some fries.
“I’m not thinking. I’m enjoying my food while making sure to savor the strength needed for the night.”
He grinned as he grabbed a fry and popped it in his mouth.
“Want to start with a dance?” he teased, wiggling his brows and I slapped his arm, making us both laugh. I knew what would happen when we got on the dance floor and I was not ready, not yet at least.
“Hey Mason,” Blondie, Barbie, Brenda, the Bitch said, resting her hand on his arm. “Care to take a girl around the floor a time or two? We could have some fun.”
I peeked around the man, resting my arm on the bar as I stared at her.
“Hey, excuse me, he’s spoken for,” I told her, shooing her along.
“Mason isn’t claimed by anyone, trust me. He’s spun me around a time or two because he doesn’t believe in relationships. So, why don’t you move along,” she told me and even though I knew what she was saying was true, I saw red anyway.
“Listen here, Blondie, Brenda, Barbie, whatever the fuck your name is,” I said, standing up and placing myself between Mason and her. “I said he’s spoken for and he is. There will be no more bed rolling or two stepping with him, do I make myself clear? I’m not done with him yet, if I ever will be. So, run along and tell all the other skanks as well, Mason Jones is mine, and I don’t share really well.”
I crossed my arms, giving her a stern look, which had her taking a step or two back before she ran to the other group of blonde bimbos.
Sure, mountain men were lonely, and I knew those young girls just saw easy lays or something, but come on, get a clue.
I heard the stool push out from behind me and then I felt his chest against my back, his hand on my hip.
“That was insanely hot,” he breathed against my ear and I shivered. “No one has ever stood up for me. Care to dance, woman.”
“Our food will get cold.”
“Screw the food. I’ll get more later. Right now, I want to show you off,” he growled, making me giggle as he dragged me on the floor, his arms tight around me. He spun me around, right in front of the group of ladies, and I couldn’t help but toss them a smug look.
I was right though, I didn’t share.
And I was far from done with Mason.
There were still a lot more things I wanted to do with him, to try with him. And if I was being honest with myself, I didn’t ever see myself being done with him.
But though I felt that his feelings were far from different, especially if there was any type of ghost lingering.
I didn’t want to replace her, even if I did go that far with him, but I wasn’t sure he saw that.
Not that I wanted to think about that, because I didn’t. I needed to enjoy what we had for the moment, and I was.
I was going to soak up everything, then I planned on soaking him multiple times throughout the night.
Chapter 9
~ Mason ~
A week later, I couldn’t help but eavesdrop over a phone conversation between Patty and her son. He was coming up on his break and wanted to come up to see his mom. And while I didn’t want him to stay here, even though his mom was, I also didn’t want her place to be ready because that would mean that she would have to leave.
