I did want more.

Despite my better judgement.

I was a little embarrassed that I was out here acting like a teenager, making out with a young buck in the shadows instead of going on a civilized date like an adult.

But that date had sucked.

And this was way more fun. I guess I always did love a bad boy.

“You’re offering to be my boy toy?” I asked.

Sam grabbed my hips and lifted me back in the air to pin me up against the building where we’d just been. There was a feral aggression to the move that thrilled me.

I held my breath, suspended above the ground, my back pressing into the rough wood of the restaurant.

When Sam stared at me, I saw that wild thing in his eyes that I’d seen inside.

“I’ll be whatever you want me to be, Clio.” His voice was deep and gravelly, and for some reason, I thought I detected a note of vulnerability in it.

But that didn’t make sense. Sam was as cocky as they came.

I wanted him closer, so I wrapped my legs around his waist, trying to draw him in, but he hovered away from me. I wanted…

Yeah. This. More of what we just did.

But did a single mom have the leeway to go out and fool around?

A stab of guilt pushed back at my selfish carnal desires. I needed to at least be honest with him.

“I…I, uh, don’t want anything serious. I mean, I have a kid, and I don’t want to confuse him or anything.”

I saw a flash of some disappointment or dissatisfaction on Sam’s face before he hid it. His tone was neutral when he asked, “Were you going for something serious with Dave the Dweeb?”

Wow. Was he still jealous? After screwing me against the restaurant wall?

“No. I–”

What? What was I going to say? That David made more sense? That David was a nice guy, and Sam wasn’t?

“I think I wasn’t ready to date yet,” I declared. Whether it was true or just felt like an easy answer to give Sam, I couldn’t be sure.

“But you still have needs.” Finally, he moved in flush against me again, his body pressed against mine.

“Yeah.”

“So here’s the deal.” Sam’s smile was gone. He seemed older without it. More serious. “We don’t have to date. I’ll be your boy toy. I’ll give you all the orgasms you need. Morning, noon, or night. I’m your man. No strings attached.”

My eyes widened in surprise. “No strings?”

He nodded. “But–”

I frowned. “I knew there was a but.”

“But no other men,” he finished. “No dates with dentists, doctors, insurance salesmen.”

He was the jealous type. Huh. I wouldn’t have guessed it with all that confidence.

I looped my arms around his neck. “You’re my exclusive boy toy?”
