A shiver ran through her, coming from out of nowhere. Her hair was still damp from her shower, but the room was warm. Her clan could be superstitious at times and she was no exception. It had felt like she’d just been given an omen of what was to come.

“Is it my destiny to meet this man from another world and fall in love with him?”the cambion murmured. No response came, of course, since she was all alone in the cabin.

Caterina drifted off to sleep and began dreaming about her journey. She ran along an endless highway, dodging men and women with black souls who were all trying to kill her.Fire from her palms slammed into them, burning them to death as she headed towards her destiny.

Far in the distance, she saw a male running towards her.She could tell he was big even though he was just a speck. They drew closer and closer together until she could make out his incredible body. Then several trucks full of armed humans cut her off. They opened fire and she ran for her life.Half of the humans chased after her and the others went after the alien.

Caterina woke up with a gasp, heart beating too hard and fast.“Was that a premonition?”she asked, realizing it was still the middle of the night.Dawn was hours away and she had no desire to trek through the darkness. Not after the nightmare she’d just had.She had no idea if it was just a dream, or if her intuition was warning her of danger to come.If so, she would heed the portent so she didn’t blunder into a deadly trap.

Chapter Eleven

––––––––

IT WAS LATE, BUT GGcouldn’t sleep. She got up and ambled downstairs wearing tiny black sleeping shorts and a matching top.Lacy and sheer, it showed off her amazing body. She’d tried to pluck up the courage to invite Dalt to her bed earlier, but he’d been too engrossed in gaming to take her hints. She’d gone to bed alone in frustrated annoyance.

Fairy lights Xanthia had installed came on at her approach, so she didn’t need to turn on the lights. They cast a magical glow as she wended her way through the couches and chairs to reach the huge kitchen. She opened the door and bent over to grab a bottle of water.

“Now that’s a sight that’ll haunt my dreams, darlin’,” Dalt said.

GG almost dropped her bottle of water as she whirled around.“You just scared ten years off my life, cowboy,” she said in an accusing tone.“What are you doing down here, sitting all alone in the dark?”He was out of range of the fairy lights, so they’d switched themselves off until she’d arrived.

Dalton was shirtless and was lounging in a chair, drinking soda.“I was thinking about you, sweetheart,” he said honestly. His gaze was riveted to her breasts. Her top was so sheer he could see her nipples.“I’m always thinking about you,” he said huskily.

GG closed the door and her ex let out a disappointed sigh that he could no longer see her so clearly.“I’m surprised you could pry yourself away from your game,” she said wryly.

“I’ve got to do something to stop myself from begging you to join me in my bed,” he joked, gesturing at one of the spare seats at the table. There was enough seating for dozens of people to sit there now.

GG sank down onto the chair and took a sip of water. She was aware of his eyes on her as she licked the water from her lips.“You don’t need to beg me, Dalt,” she said in a sultry tone.“I was trying to catch your attention before I went to bed.”

Dalt’s eyes widened and his fingers tightened on the can of soda.“You can sleep with me now?”he asked in anticipation, figuring her monthly cycle was over.

“Yeah,” she said, then smirked as he lurched to his feet.“You always were really bad at picking up on my signals.”

“That hasn’t changed,” he said with a grin, offering her his hand.“You practically had to drag me to the cabin when you decided it was time for us to take our relationship to the next level when we were sixteen,” he reminded her.

“You were too much of a gentleman to push me into doing something I wasn’t ready for,” GG said, clasping his hand so he could pull her to her feet.Dressed in boxer shorts, Dalton was hard. She couldn’t wait to run her hands all over his toned body.“We’ll need to be careful, Dalt,” she reminded him as he tugged her towards the stairs.
