The tech stuff.
Sawyer runs the day-to-day operation. And Benji knows how to handle cattle.
Me?
I built the nervous system.
I know every heartbeat on this ranch.
Or damn near.
Everything reports back in real time. I built every inch of that system myself. If something goes wrong, I know before anyone else does.
Nothing fails quietly on my watch.
I close the tailgate on my pickup and look over the last of my boxes.
There aren’t many.
I've never owned a lot of stuff.
Just a couple of duffel bags' worth of clothes—tactical gear mainly.
Three Pelican cases full of electronics.
Two custom-built servers.
Enough networking equipment to make a Fortune 500 company blush.
And my rifles, of course.
Everything else I need is already waiting inside my new place.
Finally finished. Just sitting, waiting—kinda like me.
I glance toward the log cabin sitting on the northern ridge of Jersey Iron Ranch.
It looks exactly like every other wealthy rancher's dream home.
Massive timber frame.
Natural stone chimney.
Wide porch with rocking chairs.
A weathervane spinning lazily above the roofline.
Nobody would ever guess it's probably the most technologically advanced dwelling in northwestern New Jersey.
The solar panels across the southern pitch?
They're real.
They power the cabin.
What they also do is hide a hardened satellite uplink that feeds directly into a secure server room beneath the loft.
The stone fireplace?
