“Sorry I’m late,” I call out, washing my hands and then coming over to them. “My last client was not having a great day, and our session went way over an hour.”

“That’s okay,” Sadie replies, smiling warmly. “I cleaned all the kennels, and Pyro and I are about to walk the dogs that haven’t been out yet.”

“Perfect. I can help.”

“Everything okay?” Pyro asks, studying me. He’s taken off his cut and is wearing a black T-shirt and gray sweats.

Doesn’t he know the rule about those?

He should not be wearing them out of the house.

“Yeah, why?” I ask as I walk toward the kennels.

“Just asking.”

We all do an hour walk, and by the time we’re done, I’m more than ready to go home and have a long, hot shower. When Sadie heads off to her car, Pyro lingers, and I know he wants to say something.

“What’s going on with you and Bones?”

Arching my brow at him, I get into my car and open the window so we can keep talking. Why is he asking? I thought maybe Pyro was interested in me after he showed up at the cabin, but maybe I read that wrong. Or is he asking because he’s invested in the answer? Would he ask me out if Nate and I weren’t… whatever we are?

“He just told me about his daughter. I didn’t know he was a dad. And she’s so young. I don’t know, should he even be dating? He should be at home looking after her.”

Pyro studies me for a second, then throws his head back and laughs. “He looks after her plenty, from what I’ve seen. They share her fifty-fifty, just like they do everything else. Those two share everything.”

I’m not going to lie, it sounds a little odd. Skull has an old lady, as they call it, so is she kind of like Natalia’s mother, if they are sharing custody of her? Also, why isn’t Nate just raising her himself? I have a lot of questions. Maybe I do need to visit the clubhouse and see the situation for myself.

“Are you going to the clubhouse now?”

His brow furrows. “Yeah, why?”

“Can I come with you?” I blurt out impulsively. I need to see if I want this or not. If I can handle this. If I’m willing to not even be second in his life, but third because his twin and daughter will always be in front of me.

“Without telling Bones?” He smirks, running his hand through his beard. “You know he’d kill me without me warning him. Brother code and all of that.”

“Why would you have to warn him? What is he doing there that he wouldn’t want me to see?” I demand, narrowing my eyes threateningly. “Does he have something to hide?”

“Fuck.” He sighs, a muscle working in his jaw. “I’ve only just moved to this chapter, and you’re already going to get my ass kicked.”

“I don’t see what the big deal is. He’s mentioned bringing me to the clubhouse whenever I was ready. In this moment, I’m suddenly very ready. If you don’t want to take me, I’ll go alone. Does Serpents of Chaos MC clubhouse come up on an internet search?”

He scrubs his hand down his face and sighs. “Fine, I’ll lead the way. Follow me in your car.” He mutters something about sure as hell not taking me on his bike.

Rude.

The clubhouse is only a fifteen-minute drive away, and from the looks of it, it is on a lot of land. We stop in front of large, ominous electric gates and wait to be let in. There’s fencing all around the property, which goes on for as far as the eye can see. Just how rich are these guys? I know that Nate is a mechanic and owns his own shop, Vipers, with his brother, but I have no idea what else the club does.

A really tall, attractive man with brown skin opens the gate, and Pyro stops and says something, nodding behind to me. The man smiles and steps back, letting me drive through.

I’ve seen three bikers from their club so far, and they’ve all been hot—no, wait, four, including Skull.

Parking my car, I swap my sneakers back for my heels and wait for Pyro to come to my door before I get out. He looks me up and down and gives me a soft, slow smile. “This is going to be fun.”

“Why?” I ask, glancing down at my black mid-length dress and kitten heels.

“We just don’t get many women who look like you stepping into our clubhouses.” He pauses, and then adds, “Unless we’re getting arrested. Although the women in the Rest Falls chapter are a lot classier than the one I came from.”

He puts his hand on the small of my back when I slow my steps, wondering if I’m making the right call just showing up here. Who do I think I am? I haven’t even messaged him in two days, and I’ve ignored his nighttime calls.
