He didn’t answer.

I leaned back into the seat and kept watching everything. The movement of the car stayed steady, planned, and direct. My fingers curled slightly against my palm.

Sean came into my mind before I could stop it. The men in the front seat finally spoke in low voices.

“…Anton wants her clean…”

I locked my attention onto them. I stayed still and listened closely. More fragments followed.

“…no deviation…”

“…said she’s the leverage for…”

“Sean doesn’t move until she’s confirmed…”

I kept my expression steady while my mind worked faster. This situation had a plan behind it.

Anton. Samuel Anton.

That name changed everything. They hadn’t taken me for no reason. They wanted to use me to force Sean into action without reaching him directly. I kept my breathing slow.

I understood leverage. That word explained everything. It meant I still had value alive.

That value gave me time. I didn’t have much of it, but I had enough time to think. The car turned again. I watched every movement and tried to map where they were taking me.

The car slowed before it turned once more. A narrow gap between the front seats carried voices through when they stopped trying to hide them. They weren’t as careful anymore.

That meant confidence. The man beside me touched his earpiece and paused. Then a voice came from the front seat.

“She’s in. Route’s clean.”

“The boss wants confirmation before transfer.”

My hand curled slightly. This was real. The car slowed again and came to a full stop, smooth and controlled. I looked out.

A second vehicle waited ahead, same build and type as this one. This was the handoff point.

The man beside me spoke. “Out.”

The door opened and cold air hit my face. I stayed still for a moment and checked the driver. He didn’t look back.

That told me everything. I wasn’t part of this stage. I was being moved like an object. The grip returned to my arm and guided me out.

We crossed to the second vehicle. Fragments followed us.

“Anton said no mistakes…”

“…O’Connor still hasn’t reacted…”

“He will once she’s confirmed inside system.”

The words “inside system” stayed with me. They weren’t just moving me.

They were placing me somewhere designed to use me. The second vehicle waited with its door open. Ready for transfer. The door closed behind me after I sat with a heavy sound that settled into the space instead of echoing.

It felt heavier than the first car. The seat was colder and harder, pure functionality and no comfort. My shoulder still burned from the earlier hold, but I stayed still.

No one inside spoke.
