“No joke,” I promise. “Everything's been taken care of.”

I’ve visited my sister a few times over the years. While I didn’t go into detail of my plans—not wanting to subject her to any more of this life than necessary—I did tell her that I was going to find a way to bring her home, to bring him down, and make sure he was out of our lives for good.

She knows our father is dead and that Starla is gone. She never asked questions, just accepted it, but I have a feeling she knows I’m responsible.

And that's okay, as long as she isn’t afraid of me. That's all that matters.

“I’m really coming home?” The excitement flickers back in. “For good?”

“For good.” I nod.

“Oh my god. This is amazing. Thank fuck, because I was five seconds from setting this place on fire.”

That has me laughing. “You worry me sometimes.”

“As if you have any room to talk.” She crosses her arms. “When do we leave?”

“End of the summer.”

She pouts.

“Don’t be like that,” I laugh. “The guys and I have work, but when we have time, we’ll go out and make a vacation out of it. Butright now, let’s go grab your things. You’re coming back to the house with us.”

She turns around and faces the school. “Eat rocks, motherfuckers!” she shouts, flipping off the school.

A few nuns nearby gasp, looking horrified.

“Yeah!” I shout, joining her in flipping off the school. “Suck my big, fat cock!”

“Ew,” Callie laughs, turning her bright eyes to me. I smile back, a blanket of rightness settling over me.

All of this was for you, Callie girl. We did it.

CHAPTER

TEN

TWO MONTHS LATE

NOLA

That hadto have been the longest summer of my life. Every day felt like it dragged on, time slowly ticking by.

I had to keep telling myself that this was the last time I’d have to be away from them for this long. That as soon as they got back, I’d be able to put my plan into action and get started on Operation Get-My-Men.Okay, so the name needs some work, but the premise is the same.

To keep myself busy, I hung out with Dad a lot. It was some much-needed quality father-daughter time.

He really did me a solid when it came to dealing with Scarlett. After he took care of her body, we moved on, acting as if nothing had ever happened.

But she was dead, and people would start asking questions, most likely her father.

I asked Dad what we were going to do about it, and he said he’d handle it.

So far, nothing has popped up on the news, no chatter or even a whisper.

When I asked what he did, he said he couldn’t tell me, that it was Brotherhood business, and that's all I needed to know.

I wasn’t going to argue with him about it. He literally covered up a murder for me.
