I’ve never actually said the words to anyone before.
Maybe it’s stupid of me, they’re just three words. But when I open my mouth, nothing comes out.
There's a knock at the window, making us both jump.
“What the fuck do you want?” I growl, rolling the window down.
“Sorry to interrupt, man,” Tyron, the guy who runs these races, says. “But the next race is about to start. Did you want in on this one, or wait for the next?”
“Who's racing?”
“Axel Landry.”
That has me perking up.
“Landry?” Nola asks me, raising a brow.
“I’ll take this race. Give me three minutes.”
He nods. “You got it.”
“Is Jacob here?”
Tyron nods. “He’s with the car over there.” He nods to the side.
I look back to Nola. “Ready to see what I get up to when everyone is sleeping?”
She bites her lip with excitement. “Do the guys know you do this?”
I shake my head. “Nope. Just you.” I shrug. “And Jacob.”
“Who’s Jacob?”
“One of the Brotherhood members.”
“So, why don’t Sylas and Jasper know you do this?”
“Because knowing Jasper, he would be convinced I’d get myself killed.” I roll my eyes. “I’m fucking amazing, and win every time.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll keep your secret.”
“You better,” I growl, shoving the car door open.
Nola giggles as I throw her over my shoulder, making sure to pull the shirt down over her ass as I carry her like a caveman to the car I use for races.
“Jacob,” I greet him, sitting Nola down on the hood of the car. “She ready to go?”
Jacob nods, grinning. “She’s perfect, I checked her out myself.”
The rev of an engine catches my attention. “You ready to eat my fucking dust?” Axel, the cocky fucker asks as he grins at us. His blonde hair falls over his face. How the fuck does this asshole see?
He looks nothing like his father, too much of a pretty boy for my liking. A spoiled brat with too much time and money on his hands.
I’d love to see the look on his face when his father gets carried away in handcuffs. Bet he won’t be so cocky when he either has to step up and take his father’s place or lose it all.
“For someone who loses to me every single time, you sure are cocky,” I say deadpan. “Stop making yourself look stupid and get to the starting line.”
His smile falls, and he shoots me a murderous glare. “One of these days, I’m going to fucking murder you and your friends.”
