“Some prank,” Sylas mutters. “They took this one a little too far.”

“Could the girl who’s missing and the one we found possibly know each other?” Garrett asks.

“I have no clue.”

“Did you get a name?” Wesley asks, and my back stiffens.Fuck! His lips curl at the side. “You didn’t, did you?” He shakes his head. “Daddy Jasper is off his game this morning. It’s okay, just blame the hangover.”

I knew drinking was a bad fucking idea. I just needed to get out of my head and stop obsessing over the fact that Nola was here.

Ever since Callie took her under her wing and made Nola her new best friend, she’s been everywhere.

We’ve been avoiding the two of them, needing to put some space between Nola and us. But it’s hard to do that when Callie is always with her.

Callie thinks we’re being stupid, that it’s obvious we feel something for her. She says, and I quote, ‘Get your head out of your ass and see how amazing Nola is before someone else does’.

It’s not going to happen because Nola isn’t going to be with another man. Not while we’re breathing.

But it also doesn’t mean we’re going to abandon the reason why we’ve given up on the idea of ever making Nola ours.

Callie doesn’t understand just how messed up and dangerous our lives are. Not just our lives, but our sexual preferences.

Being around Nola has just proven even more to us why she will never be ours. She can’t look at us without blushing, can’t talkwithout stuttering, or even make eye contact for more than a few seconds.

To a normal guy, they might find that cute or endearing. To men like us, it’s just proof that she’s too sweet, too pure, too innocent for our world.

And I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

“I’m going home to shower and change. I’ll be back tonight, and we can take her body to the morgue. Whatever happened last night, I have a feeling it’s just the beginning.”

“Do you think it’s someone who might be out to get us?” Sylas ponders.

“I don’t know,” I growl low. “But I plan on finding out.”

And when I do, and if it is someone who’s trying to harm me, my brothers, or the Brotherhood, then I will put them down like a fucking dog.

CHAPTER

NINETEEN

NOLA

As I flickthrough the different news channels, I start to grow more and more annoyed. Nothing. There’s been nothing about the girl I killed at the party the other day.

I thought maybe they would need a few days to figure out what they would tell the public, but it’s been four days and nothing.

It’s as if I never even slit a girl's throat and left her body there for everyone to see.

I’ve texted Callie and asked her if there was a chance that maybe no one had found the body yet, and she’s still lying there on the ground next to the house. She went to look, and the body was gone.

So what the fuck is going on? Are they hiding this, trying to cover it up? Why would they? To them, it’s just some crazy person out there murdering young girls. They have no reason to cover it up.

With an annoyed sigh, I shut the TV off. Tossing the remote on my bed, I head downstairs for something to eat before getting ready for classes.

“Dad!” I start when I step into the kitchen. I already know Mom isn’t home. She wakes up at six every morning and walks around the park with her friends, so I don’t bother trying to be discreet. “Did you hear anything from your buddy at the police station?” I lean against the kitchen island, grabbing an apple from the bowl and taking a bite.

Dad lowers his newspaper, shaking his head. “No. Nothing.”

“Is he just not telling you, or do they really have nothing to report?” I narrow my eyes.
