“How were you a shithead?”
Points two, three, and four had already gone to her. “For not realizing you were right.”
“Moiwas right?” She pressed the edge of her hand against her chest. “The great Ford ‘The Wolfman’ Kendrick just admitted he was wrong and I was right. Film at eleven.”
I inched closer, daring to face more of her wrath. I also pointed my finger at her. “You are a woman who deserves…”You’re such an idiot.
“Who deserves what exactly?” Georgia tilted her chin.
The things I could do to her could rattle her chain. Or mine. Why not both? “You deserve to be treated much better than to have some arrogant jerk of a man, let alone a wolf act like you didn’t know what you were talking about. I just didn’t want to believe you. I didn’t believe the first or the second doctor either. You likely saved my career.”
“Really? I heard you were a quitter on top of being a jerk. The wolf runs when the heat gets turned up high?”
Was I mistaken or had she inched closer to me? The possibility worried me. She could have a knife hidden behind her back. Nah. She wasn’t that kind of woman, untamable and unpredictable.
Or was she?
My laugh was out of nervousness. “Did anyone ever tell you that you’re a ballbuster?”
“All. The. Time. Maybe that’s something you should keep in mind. Are you quitting? I heard the Hellions franchise was approved.”
“Ah, so you’re paying attention to my career.”
“No, I’m paying attention to the news.” That cute nose of hers wrinkled. “Now, why don’t you tell me why you’re here.”
I’d never been this nervous in my life. “I thought maybe we could go out.”
“Out where?”
This wouldn’t be more painful if she had my balls in the palm of her hand, practicing using a vise. “You know. Like out, out.”
“Out. Out. Wow. You have an amazing vocabulary.”
“You’re going to make me grovel for this. Aren’t you?”
She cocked her hip, pursing her lips together. “Oh, you bet.”
Nodding about ten times, all I was doing was trying to collect my shit off the floor. I hoisted myself taller, taking a decided step this time until I was now able to drip all over her feet. “Ms. Wallace, would you do me the honor of coming out with me on a date tonight?”
“Where would we go?”
“Really? Balls to the wall, huh?”
“Yes, Wolfman. Really.” She cocked her head and I’d be damned if she didn’t catch the writing on my arm. “Interesting artwork.”
“You like this?” I fisted my hand, allowing her to see my flexed muscle. Did I honestly believe I stood a chance of impressing her?
“Very clever. Obviously since you’re here it worked. Then again, all men need a push in the right direction.”
I shook my head, fighting the urge to take her into my arms. “Maybe you’re right.”
“I’m always right.” She swirled her finger, pointing it at me again. “You should just accept that.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
From where I was standing, the fire in her eyes became a powerful aphrodisiac, pulling me into a web that I never wanted to be released from. Mate or not, I adored this woman.
Including her sass.
