“We’re not doing this today,” I finally said.

“I thought you would eventually see what was already in front of you.”

“I see you…that’s not the issue.”

“Then what is?”

“I don’t want what you want, and outside of the good sex that we do have, we don’t have anything in common. The things I want for my future… for my life… they don’t line up with what you want. And I’m not up for discussing this shit because there ain’t no point.” I said, turning toward the door. “Look…my fans are waiting, the crew is filming, and I ain’t ate all morning. We can talk about whatever this is later.”

“Later?” Her heels clicked against the floor as she followed me. “Ozy, don’t walk away from me.”

I grabbed the door handle, but before I opened it, she caught my wrist.

“Please,” she said quietly.

I looked down at her hand and then back at her.

“Gin.”

“No, because you always do this. You shut down whenever I say something you don’t want to hear.”

“What do you want me to say?”

“That you care.”

“I do care.”

“That you want me.”

I stared at her for a long moment before saying, “Let’s go eat.”

Her fingers loosened around my wrist.

The tears that had been sitting in her eyes finally spilled over, and as fucked up as it made me feel, I opened the door and stepped out, leaving her standing there alone.

By the time security escorted us through the lobby of the hotel, I was trying my hardest not to look like I had never been anywhere nice before.

Because baby… this was different. Just to stay here one night would’ve cost at least eighteen hundred dollars off rip! I was glad we got to experience all of this for FREE.99.

TheSt. Regis Crescentsat right in the middle of the city, and the gold lighting made everything look warm and expensive. Even the air smelled rich.

Huge cream-colored couches sat off to the side with gold tables in front of them, and fresh white flowers were placed everywhere. I was in love and could only imagine what the rooms looked like.

I adjusted the strap of my old weekend bag on my shoulder, trying to hide the fact that it was ripping a little, while the bellman rolled my suitcase behind us.

Then I saw a famous basketball player standing near the front desk.

Fucking Rodney Storges!

I almost lost my mind. He was tall as hell, dressed in sweats, with his security standing beside him.

Girl, don’t stare!

“Mmm! I’d drink his bathwater!” Char shouted, damn near embarrassing us all because I was sure Rodney heard her.

I couldn’t help but laugh a little. I’d drink his bathwater too!

We took three more steps before spotting an actress I had watched in at least five movies sitting near the bar with sunglasses on, trying to be discreet.
