“I think I'm falling in love with you,” Camille said.

“Are you?” Luigi asked.

“Yes,” she replied.

“Why did you bring a bug into my bedroom then?” he asked.

“What?” She sat up to look at him.

“Why did you bug my living room and my son's room?” Luigi pressed.

She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out.

Luigi sat up. “You put a bug in my son's jacket so you could listen to our meeting.”

She looked away. “That was before I decided I loved you.”

“You told the cops about my operations,” Luigi said.

“I didn't know how much I wanted you then.”

“Why?” he asked. “Why did you do it?”

Tears spilled from her eyes, and her lips started to tremble. “I'm sorry.”

“I suspected all my men,” he said. “I thought my son betrayed me.”

“I didn't have a choice.”

“What do you mean you didn't have a choice?”

“My younger brother… Joe…”

“What about him?”

“He was involved in something bad.”

“What thing?”

“I don’t know. The police thought it was related to you. So, they wanted information.”

“And?”

“When they found out it wasn’t related to you, they said he was going to jail. But it was around then that Brooke started going out with Paulo. The cops went to her first. If she brought them the information they wanted, our brother would only serve half of his term.”

“So, she agreed to do it?”

“No. She was too scared. I told them I'd do it, but I didn't tell her.”

Luigi heaved a sigh and got up from the bed. He picked up his pants and put them on. “Take your family and leave this place,” he said.

“Please,” Camille entreated. “I can show you my last message to Weinberg. I told him I was out.”

Luigi shook his head sadly. For a moment, he was glad his men could not expect him to do anything to her while she was there.

“I love you, Luigi,” Camille said. “I didn’t know I would fall for you the way I have… Nothing else matters to me now.”

“It’s too late,” Luigi said.
