His raised eyebrows shot up even farther. “Considering how you smelled when you came back from town, I’m actually surprised.”

“Oh, that. Yeah, but it’s not like they were going to do the nasty in his truck,” Nina said.

I was pretty sure my face was growing redder by the second, but I’d gotten myself into this situation, and there was no getting out of it, apparently.

“Well, I’m not exactlyopposedto doing it outside, it seems…” I trailed off.

Both my friends’ eyes went wide, the room dropping into silence.

“Well, now you’re going tohaveto expand on that,” Griffin said.

“Something certainly expanded.” Nina giggled.

I picked up a pillow from Griff’s bed and threw it in her direction. She just laughed at me.

“If youmustknow, I may have had a moment with Grey in his office the other day… And then with Orsen… in the forest.”

“Inthe forest? Hot damn. I’m proud of you.” Nina grinned from ear to ear. “I know you needed a break to clear your head, but that isn’t exactlywhat I thought would do the trick. That’s way better.”

Sighing, I threw my head back, running a hand through my hair before covering my eyes. “You guys are hopeless at giving pep talks, you know that?”

“What do you want us to say? We want you to keep screwing the Alphas. We think this is a fantastic development,” Griffin encouraged.

“He’s right, you know? Because the more settled you get here, the more likely you are to stay. And we bothloveyour ass and want you to stay put,” Nina declared.

“You just want me to deliver your baby when the time comes. I can do that from anywhere. I can still travel,” I stated.

“No babies right now. But I do like having you around for the occasional boo-boo. So, yeah. It’s mucheasier if you’re here. Honestly, all my motives are entirely selfish.” Nina laughed, shrugging as I glared playfully at her.

“Same here. I mean, what am I gonna do when I get injured again?” Griffin asked. “After having yourexemplarymedical treatment last time, no one else will do. I’m spoiled.”

“My friends. Such warm, kind,caringpeople.” I laughed. “They want me for my healing and nothing more. Ugh. Well, is there anything else I should know about doing it with a dragon? Just in case.”

Griff raised his brows, turning the corners of his mouth down. “Right.In case.Well, you’re in luck. The knot is prettymuch the big show. And you handled it. Twice. You’re doing fine.”

Nina rubbed her hand along my back again, leaning in for a sideways hug. “Now, details.Juicyfreaking details, like you promised.”

“Oh no.” Griff stood up, throwing his arm over Nina and guiding us toward the door. “I get it now. And I will not be hearing about Ro’s dragon dicking. You girls have fun.”

Nina scoffed playfully and then dragged me toward my room. “All right, cutie. Spill. I want to hear it all.”

“Rowan! How are you? Do you need something to eat? Laundry? I swear, you desperately need more clothing,” Ma chattered, grabbing a steaming mug of coffee and placing it in my hands.

“Sorry, I know I pack light.” Because I only had a few items of clothing, it seemed like Ma constantly had my laundry to do. I felt guilty, but she refused to let me do my own, insisting that I was busy working.

“It’s no stress for me! I’m happy to help, especially with everything you’re doing for this horde.Thatshould be your priority.”

“I know, but you do so much,” I insisted.

She beamed at me, patting my cheek lovingly. “It’s a treat to get to spoil my daughter-in-law.”

I hadn’t thought about it like that. Beyond beingMato everyone, she was Orsen’s biological mother, so, through the mate bond, she was my mother in a way.
