A delicate blush covered her cheeks as a smile graced her features. “Rowan. They named the little boy Rowan.”
It was a perfect name. After everything my mate had done to bring that baby boy into the world, naming him after her seemed appropriate.
“That’s wonderful. We’re going to have to start sayingRowanandBaby Rowanjust to separate you two!”
“I think we will cope.” She smirked, going to pull her hand back—but I held on tightly. Her soft hand in mine felt right. Having her in my office… Well, they were some of my favorite times.
Maybe I needed to set my office up in her clinic; that way, I would always be around her.
The idea had merit, even if it was a little over the top.
“I heard you and Nix had a good time in town. Did you manage to get plenty of supplies?” I asked innocently.
Her face flushed, and I had to bite back a smile. “We got plenty,” she assured me. “Though maybe Griffin can go with me next time because Nix got a little…”
I raised a brow. “A little, what?”
“Let’s just say that the salesperson was a creep. I think he wanted to be flirty, but failed miserably, and naturally, Nix didn’t like it.”
“Ahh, I’m guessing that’s what fueled the make-out session against the truck I keep hearing about?”
This time, her deep blush was accompanied by a smile.
Rowan
“It was pretty wild, actually. Nix, likegrowledat him. And, I mean, I’m extremely grateful since the guy was creepy, but I’ve never seen him likethat.”
We were supposed to be discussing finances and my clinic, but talking with Grey was easy. Sitting in the comfy armchair on the other side of his desk, I felt rather peaceful. So, the topic turned to my time with Nix.
Grey smirked as he set down the paperwork he’d been helping me sort out and leaned back. “I’ve known Nix for a long time. Of all the things that can actually set the guy off, someone encroaching on what’s his is definitely one of them.”
My cheeks heated as I remembered Nix kissing me. He’d backed me up against his truck right there in the parking lot and made out with me, like his life had depended on it. It had been… incredible.
“I won’t lie, I find I’m rather jealous of my clanmate.”
After a moment, Grey leaned forward, resting his elbows on the desk as I stared at him from across the short distance. The office was suddenly very hot, and I shot a quick glance at the door. Everyone else had gone. We’d been doing paperwork forso long that it was now evening. His eyes seemed to gleam, and I could hear my heart pitter-patter faster and louder.
“He gotanotherkiss?” Grey licked his lips, his eyes flicking to my mouth, and I swallowed hard. “And where’s mine?”
That actually made me laugh, releasing the building tension. I pushed out of the chair and reached across the desk to plant a quick peck on his cheek. Though I knew that wasn’t what he was looking for, for some reason, I felt like teasing him.
“There ya go.” I grinned, loving the face Grey made, all narrowed eyes and playful menace.
“You really think I’m going to let you get away with that?” He slipped his fingers under my chin so I couldn’t back away. I mean, of course Icould, but the intent was there, and those sparkling blue eyes locked me in place.
“I gave you a kiss,” I countered, steering headlong into malicious compliance because, apparently, I was feeling a bit bratty.
“That wasnota kiss.” Grey surged upward, practically climbing onto the desk as he pulled me forward, wrapping a hand around the back of my neck. “Thisis a kiss.”
His lips crashed onto mine, and goddamn, he was right. That was a kiss, the way he claimed my mouth, his tongue exploring mine. I was already on the edge, and all he’d done was kiss me. He was damn good at it, though, and a little moan left me as we perched on top of the desk, utterly lost in each other.
It was the second time I was making out with one of the Alphas, like I was a teenager fooling around with my boyfriend, in the space of a few days, and I had to admit that I adored it. Hell, I was enjoying myself so much, I wantedmore.
And I’m not in public this time.
I pulled Grey closer, wrapping my arms around his neck. After a moment, I held on to him as I looked over at the door. “That’s locked, right?”
He cocked an amused brow at me as he shook his dark locks out of his eyes. “Yes,why?”
