I chewed the food in my mouth, then answered his question.

“Exactly like that. Maybe not the money on the dresser part, but yes to the rest. Sex already blurs the lines at times. Then you add affection and spending time outside of the bedroom, you get a chick hiding in your bushes.”

Kairo almost choked on his food as he cracked up.

“That’s real specific.” He squinted. “Let me find out you be hiding in bushes.”

“Never. I’m not going to lie, though; I have felt like I wanted to before.”

I once dated a guy named Shawn who had dick for days and could eat cat like the rent was due. Chanel and I called him Pinocchio, though, because he was always lying. He lied about things he didn’t need to lie about. We weren’t exclusive, so it was okay that he dealt with other women, but he would never admit it. I had to cut him loose, but I did miss the D at first.

“Don’t worry. I won’t have you hiding in my bushes.” He winked.

“I wouldn’t have to, because I know where you work.” I smirked. “I wouldn’t play around like that, though. Work is work, and I wouldn’t want to cause issues for either of us.”

No matter how good the dick was, I wasn’t messing up my money for anyone. I had bills to pay and enjoyed living life as much as I could and needed money to do that.

“I could be speaking prematurely, but I know for a fact that I wouldn’t give you a reason to act like that. After that last situation, I made a vow to myself that I would only date and have sex with a person I could see myself being with. I like you, Mycah, and I honestly want to see where this could go. I’m not asking you to be my girlfriend, but I want to actively pursue you. I want us to go on dates and shit. Of course, at work, we should be discreet, but I want to spend more time with you.”

“I wouldn’t mind spending more time with you as well.”

Kairo was easy to talk to, and I didn’t feel pressure to be anyone else other than me. It didn’t feel like he was only trying to have sex with me, even though the more I spent time with him, the more I wanted it.

We finished our meal, and I was too full for dessert, but we both took a piece of strawberry cheesecake to go.

“You down to explore the town a little? We don’t have to get out or anything. I just want to show you a few places.”

I hadn’t had much time to explore, so I wasn’t opposed to it. I wasn’t ready to part ways with him anyway.

“I’m down. What about our cheesecake, though?” I didn’t want my cake to be out for too long and it go bad.

“I have a cooler in my trunk that will keep them cool enough for a little bit. We won’t be too long.”

“Okay.”

Kairo held our cheesecakes in one hand while the other one was on the small of my back. When valet brought the car up, he helped me inside, put the cakes in the trunk, then pulled off.

Mycahand I spent a little over an hour driving around. I showed her multiple landmarks, as well as the flower farm. I also showed her the hospital, the fire station, and other important places. We rode past a few businesses and stores that I thought would be of interest to her. When we were done, we rode to my house.

I enjoyed spending time with Mycah, and I meant what I said about dating her. She had been the only woman I wanted to try and take seriously in a while. I enjoyed her personality. She was funny but also knew how to keep a conversation going.

I heard her phone buzzing multiple times, but she hadn’t bothered with answering it.

“You still getting those unknown calls?” I asked when her phone went off again, and she pulled it out of her bag.

She looked down at it, then at me. “I am.” She went to put it back in her bag, but I stopped her.

“Let me answer it,” I told her.

“Huh?”

I felt like whoever it was wasn’t going to stop until she answered, and since she didn’t seem interested in seeing who it was, I figured I could do it for her.

“Let me answer it for you. There is no need for you to keep being bothered by it, and it looks like they won’t let up.”

It stopped but started again. She placed it in my hand, and I put it on speaker when I answered.

“Mycah! Mycah!” a dude yelled, and I could tell by the anger in his voice that it was her ex.
