“Pretty. Big blue eyes. Dark brown hair. Curvy. Her smile won me over until it twisted into something evil.”

I shiver as I listen to Thad recount the events from the moment Rashell kissed him until Hayride rescued him. There are things that happen to us out of our control, horrible, terrifying things, and they try to steal the security, happiness, and comfort we feel in life. They tried to steal it from Thad.

But my brother is a fighter. He’s not letting that evil win.

If he can show such bravery and strength after such an ordeal, I’m going to support him every step of the way.

Boomer stops the recording after my brother finishes speaking. The air is heavy with the words he’s spoken.

Thad lifts his chin, staring into Boomer’s eyes. “Nail these motherfuckers, Sheriff. Make sure they can’t ruin any more lives.”

“That’s the plan. I’ll get back with you soon.” Boomer turns in my direction. “They’ll be dealt with, Nat. Justice is always served in our town.”

The ominous promise hangs in the air as Boomer leaves, proving that Raven’s Crest is no ordinary town. The sheriff works with the Kings of Anarchy MC. They’ll eliminate every threat. An attack on the tourists or the townspeople is an attack on the club. I heard Hayride say those words.

And nobody fucks with the Kings.

Chapter 11 Hayride

“Ineed to find this motherfucker, Pres.”

“I know, Hayride.”

No, he doesn’t. “I’m fucking serious. I need to find the guy who fucked up Nat’s brother and make him suffer.”

Scythe scrubs a hand over his face, eyes focusing on me before he reaches for the glass in front of him, fills it with whiskey, and takes a shot. When he swallows, he finally responds. “He needs to fucking go to ground for all the lives he’s taken and ruined, not just Thad Scott.”

Okay. I understand that. My focus just happens to be on my ol’ lady and justice for her family. “Right. I’m all for that, too.”

Mountain shakes his head. “You’re in deep, brother.”

Phantom grins. Voodoo snickers.

I flip them both off.

“So? She’s gonna be my ol’ lady.”

Scythe lifts his brows in surprise. “Yeah? You putting a property patch on Natalya?”

“If she agrees, yes.”

“Damn. I owe Phantom fifty fucking dollars now.”

I try not to get irritated because all my brothers are betting on my relationship with Nat. It’s fucking stupid, but not enough to distract me. I fucking want blood and vengeance. An eye for an eye.

Scythe sees it. “We’re gonna get him, Hayride. We’ll get them all.”

Still not fucking good enough. I push to my feet, too wound up to sit. “Three days, Pres.” How long were we waiting to deal with the threat? “It’s been three fucking days since we found Thad.”

“Rashell Allen’s house was fucking empty. Remember?” Mountain reminds me with a growl like I’m stepping out of line.

Scythe slams his fist on the table that we’re all gathered around, glaring in my direction. He’s as frustrated as I am. “Three bodies in three days, and Thad Scott barely surviving a hanging. Then three more days without a whisper of violence. We’re all on edge, Hayride. Sit the fuck down.”

It’s church, and this is my president. I fucking know better, but I can’t get the thoughts of revenge out of my head. They’re consuming me. I can’t sit here and do nothing when Rashell Allen is likely the killer, and she probably has accomplices.

But I obey, dropping my ass back onto my chair.

Boomer opens the door and strides into the room. “Just got done interviewing Thad Scott. You should hear this.” He doesn’t wait for anyone to respond; he sets his phone on the table. Boomer taps a recording, and it starts playing.
