He sits up and leans forward, taking the computer from me, and says,“Would you look at this shit?” His eyes zero in on the screen. “What the fuck are these things?”
“They’re called mini trucks, and their beds are converted to have shelves in the back.”
He scrolls through the page, passionately interested, which makes me smile. “How the fuck do I get one?”
“Cougar.” I chuckle. “You’re too big to drive one of those. You would never fit in one.”
“The hell I wouldn’t. I could get one of these and hand out signed jerseys from the back. It could be the merch mobile.” His eyes light up. “The Cougar mobile. Fuck, sweetheart, this has to happen. I can get it wrapped to look like a cougar as well.” He clicks on something and turns it toward me. “This one, right here. Perfect. Give me ten of them.”
“Oh my God, you’re so ridiculous,” I say, shaking my head.
“Ridiculous or genius?” he asks.
“Ridiculous.”
He shakes his head and then sips his drink. “You’re hating because you’re jealous.”
“I’m telling the truth because there is no way you would be able to drive that thing, let alone give away merch. You would be mauled by fans.”
“I see no problem with that. Got to love all the love.”
“Okay, fine, get one. Let’s see you go through with this idea.”
His lips purse to the side and then he says, “Damn, you know I’m all talk.”
I laugh because he truly is just…to say it nicely, an idiot.
There’s nothing complicated about him.
He’s unapologetically him.
And there might not be much substance to him, but sometimes easy is best.
“What do you need this truck for?”
“You’re going to make fun of me.”
His eyes pop open as he points to his chest. “Me? Make fun of you? Come on, I have better people to spend that kind of energy on. So tell me, what it’s for?”
I take my computer back and say, “Promise you won’t make fun of me?”
“Promise.”
“Fine.” I shut my computer and fold my hands on top of it. “It’s supposed to be a book truck.”
His brow furrows together. “What do you mean by ‘book truck’?”
“I’d sell books from it. Kind of like a food truck, but instead of food, it would be books.”
“Is that a thing?” he asks. “Like…people read?”
Oh, Cougar.
“Yes, they read.” I chuckle. “It’s actually quite popular.”
“Really?” he asks, absolutely stunned as if this is new information tohim.
“Yes. Very popular.”
