God, her responses...I still remember the way she creamed around my cock, her gasps, the way I wished I could pump my release into her without a condom and feel the slick walls of her flesh truly grasp on to me.

I would have never done it, of course.

The last thing I want is an unwanted pregnancy, so I wrap up every single time I have sex.

I’ve never been tempted to pump my release into another woman before. But the feeling of her wet heat rippling around me was almost too much to bear.

Shame because I doubt we’ll ever see her again. I don’t know why the thought bothers me. I've never necessarily minded when women took off before we woke up, rare as it's been. Usually, it happens with the ones who end up having boyfriends and fiancées they never mentioned, or are simply too shy to admit what they did in the light of day.

Maybe they think we'll judge them, not knowing that we never would. I mean to do that, we'd have to judge ourselves pretty harshly as well.

But I didn't expect her to be a runner, what with how assertive she was in the beginning and how obvious her enjoyment was during. I thought for sure she would want a morning repeat and maybe an afternoon one. And maybe one in the evening.

Heck, we could have kept this going for the entire week. It was that good.

The mind-blowing sex is still at the forefront of my mind, tempting me with possibilities that will likely not happen now that she’s gone.

Oh well. Nothing to do but move on.

“Something happened, though,” Jake says, and I glance over to see him lift something in the air with the end of a random spoon. A used condom. A used, brokencondom

I freeze. “Whose is that?”

"No clue," he says. “I want to say it wasn’t mine, but I was pretty out of it towards the end when she was..." His gaze gets a little dreamy, and he can't even finish the sentence, a stupid smile curling the end of his lips.

It's strange. I’ve never seen him like that after having sex with a woman before. Typically, he’s all too happy to remain friendly with them, but then he gets a little distant as time passes.

And he's always comfortable with them leaving the morning after.

I thought he was content at first when he came home after his jog. He seemed his usual self, but now looking at him again...

"Did you do ten miles today?" He's sweatier than usual.

"Yup. Why?"

"Nothing," I try to resist the urge to smirk. "It's just that you usually do five."

"Maybe I was just in a more runny mood."

"Right." More like he was fucking frustrated when he found out she was gone and he had to run off the excess energy.

I don't blame him, although I wonder what's different this time. Hell, it's the same question I ask myself, because I can't lie that I was really disappointed to wake up and not find her in bed with me.

I don't even know how to explain it, only that there was something enchanting about her that defied explanation. It's why I’m also disappointed that she didn’t stay for breakfast, when usually I’m the first one out the door getting ready for work.

It wasn't even just about the sex. I wanted to have an actual conversation with her, heck, maybe learn her name while I was at it.

Well, whatever. I’m sure I’ll forget about her in a few weeks.

I don’t forget about her.

She pops into my mind the most inopportune times, like when I'm meeting with my team or when we're on site working, or even when I'm sitting at a bar with Jake.

Once, I see a girl from behind who has her hair color and general build, and I almost go after her, but stop when she turns around, and it's not her.

She's still on my mind when I meet with James four weeks later.

James is an old college friend who started a construction company that handles mostly civil and infrastructure projects.
