Confusion and anger swirl within me. At the situation and at whatever the fuck I’m witnessing between the two of them.
I didn’t know they knew each other, but it’s clear that they know each otherreallywell, since I’ve never seen Logan act this way towards someone, ever.
I want to demand answers.
I want to pull her away from him.
I want to know what the fuck is going on.
But I do none of that, because Savannah clearly needs him right now, and no matter how much that hurts, she’s the priority here, not me.
Yet I don’t take my eyes off them. I can’t.
Logan’s eyes flick toward Lana and Cole, who are both also staring at them in confusion. “You got this?” he asks, and they both nod.
“Good, I’m taking her home.” Logan sends me a look I can’t decipher before turning and walking away with Savannah under his arm. I watch them go, my heart in my throat and a pit in my stomach.
THIRTY-TWO
SAVANNAH
Safe.
Logan is safe. He won’t hurt me.
He won’t corner me, and he won’t beat me.
Safe.
Logan is safe.
His arm loosens from my shoulder, and I grab onto his shirt, not wanting him to let go and lose the feeling of security, even though my body screams in pain.
“You gotta let me go, Sav. I need to get you in the car, then I’ll take you back to my place, okay? We’ll go straight to my room, and I won’t make you see anyone you don’t want to.”
A whimper sounds from somewhere, maybe me. His arm loosens again, but I don’t fight it.
He’s taking me to the cottage, where I’ll be safe.
He helps me into a car, leaving me for a moment before sliding into the driver’s seat. A seatbelt comes around me, securing me in place before the engine starts. It’s warm, it’s safe. I close my eyes and let the sounds of the car comfort me. I’m not there anymore, in the alley, in the cold, in the silence.
I’m safe.
I open them as the engine turns off, then fresh air hits me, and I’m in Logan’s arms again. He’s carrying me, he won’t let anything happen to me.
I want Harley, but I also don’t.
I always want him, but we’re not what we once were, and I can’t deal with him hating me right now.
Though really, it’s not like he would help me anyway. He wanted to back…therebecause he felt bad for me, but in reality, he doesn’t care about me. Why would he, after everything I’ve done? I deserve his hate.
Maybe what happened was just karma coming back around to bite me.
No, even karma isn’t that cruel.
There’s only one person who is… my father.
He’s why this happened to me. He’s why I did the things I’ve done, and he’s the reason Harley hates me.
