“My answer is the same as the last time you asked me,” he grunts, and I huff out a breath.

Okay, so maybe I’ve been asking him every five minutes, but so what? I’m fucking worried.

“You said you had people waiting for us when we land, who are they?”

Logan’s head slowly lifts from the laptop, and he stares at me, a hard glint in his eyes. He seems to be debating with himself before he finally answers, “Two of mybrothers.”

I blink and tilt my head to the side. “You don’thaveany brothers.”

His lips quirk the smallest bit, and I’m… well, I’m confused as all hell. “They might not be my blood, but theyaremy family. My brothers.”

Why is everyone acting so goddamn weird and shady today?

What the fuck have I been missing these past few years?

After what seems like an eternity,we finally land on the tarmac, and I breathe a sigh of relief that we’re one step closer to getting my girl back.

We all stand at the same time, all of us eager to get off the jet and go get Savannah. I follow behind Cole while Lana and Logan trail after us, but just as we’re descending the steps, Cole stops dead in his tracks, leaving me to almost crash into him.

He curses under his breath, and I peer around him, finding four people waiting near two cars just a few steps away from the jet. There’s three men and one woman, all standing casually as they wait.

“What’s wrong?” I mutter to Cole as I eye the people.

“Remember when I said my cousin would ask eventually?”

“Uh huh.”

“Well, it looks like he’s sent his wife and brother to do exactly that.”

Two of the men stand off to the left, and if I had to guess, they’d be Logan’s mysterious brothers, while the other two standing together must be Cole’s cousin and his wife.

Cole starts down the steps, and the two closest to us—Cole’s family—approach. The guy is big and kinda scary looking, wearing a suit and a Cheshire cat grin on his face, while the woman is dressed in black leather pants, a black tank top, leather jacket, and red heels.

The more I look at her, taking in her long blonde hair and indifferent expression, the more she reminds me of Lana. Not that they look too similar, but more that they’re both scary as fuck.

“En—” Cole doesn’t even get to finish whatever he was about to say before he’s wrapped in the guy’s arms.

“You little shit, what the fuck is going on, and why are these two here?” The guy tilts his head toward the two who are now standing and talking to Logan. “They wouldn’t tell us anything. Just what the fuck have you got yourself into?”

While I’m all for family reunions, we’re wasting time when we could be going to get Savannah. “Sorry, but can we please get the fuck going?”

Everyone’s attention snaps to me, but I don’t care. I need to get my girl back.

“Right,” Cole mutters. “This is Enzo and Izzy Romano, and it looks like we just got more people to help…” He takes a step back from who I now know as Enzo and grins. “You don’t mind coming to help us fuck shit up, right?”

Romano…

As in,theRomanos?

Surely not, they’re notorious in this city, known by everyone in the business world because of their investments and their… side businesses.

Is Cole really telling me his cousins are in the Mafia? No, notinthe Mafia, arethe Mafia.

Jesus fucking Christ, today just keeps getting more and more fucked up. I look at the man who I’ve known my entire life, my best friend, and view him with fresh eyes.

Enzo and Izzy exchange a glance before replying at the same time, “Always.”

Logan and the other two guys approach us, introducing themselves as Damon and Cal.
