My heart was starting to slow, but it was going to take a while.
“That was intense,” I said breathlessly.
“For me, too,” he replied in a husky tone.
“I can’t believe you didn’t come during my first climax.”
That stimulation when I came was usually what set him off.
“It took a superhuman effort. I’m not sure I could do that every day.”
“Good,” I said emphatically. “I don’t think I could take that every day.”
Although it was incredibly pleasurable, it was exhausting and intense.
“But was it good?” he said playfully.
“You know it was,” I told him. “It’s all good. I’m lucky to be sleeping with an incredibly hot stud.”
“The scars,” he said hesitantly.
God, it killed me that he actually had insecurities about his scars.
“The scars remind me of just how strong you are, Asher. I feel the same way that you do about my scars. You went through so much as a child, and you did everything you could to protect Cole. I know you want to leave it behind, and I respect that, but I’m glad you told me what happened. You were so incredibly brave.”
“It was a long time ago,” he said. “It’s not worth rehashing. I’ve done enough of that to fix my PTSD.”
I shook my head. “You don’t have to with me. I know what happened, and I understand the desire to move on. But I’m always here to listen if there are things you want to talk about.”
“I know that, but I don’t think I’m ever going to want to rehash my childhood.” Asher wrapped a strong arm around my waist and pulled me closer to him. “We didn’t actually get to use the bed.”
“We can do it on the way back,” I suggested. “I guess I should take a shower. I don’t smell pretty.”
It was a fairly short flight, and I knew it wouldn’t be long before we were preparing to land.
“Kiss me first,” he said grumpily, like he was offended that I was going to leave him before he got a kiss.
I moved a little closer to him and kissed him on the cheek.
This interaction had gotten to be a game for us. A game I loved to play.
He cocked a brow, shook his head, and put his index finger to his lips.
“Do you really want me that close?” I teased. “I stink.”
He didn’t speak.
He simply tapped his lips.
“You’re impossible sometimes,” I said with a laugh.
“I don’t hear you complaining that I smell,” he said.
I rolled my eyes, but I moved even closer and kissed him.
I loved everything about this man, even his ripe smell that reminded me of hot, sweaty sex.
Asher grasped the back of my head and held me in place, tasting my lips until he was satisfied.
