He shakes his head.
Frustrated, I drop my hands and lean back against the sofa. “Can youplease,” I whine.
He chuckles and grabs the back of my knees pulling me to the edge of the couch. “I like it when you use the word please,” he rasps.
I shoot daggers from my eyes. His gaze is still locked onto mine as he kisses the inside of my knee. “I wonder what else I can do to get you to beg for me,” he says, and presses his lips on the other knee.
I take a deep breath trying to calm my racing heart, but it does no good as Ledger drops my legs over his shoulders and pins my hips.
I’m done for.
His delicate fingers and mouth leave me squirming and I grab his hair holding on, needing to move, but his tight grip won’t let me, and I explode.
Ledger groans into me and my vision tunnels for a moment before my lungs snatch back the air. “Ledger.”
He lifts his head and sits back on his heels, with my legs still hanging over his shoulders. He grins triumphantly.
I need him.
Moving my unsteady legs off his shoulder, I lean forward, pressing my mouth to his. Desire burns in my chest as I run my nose along the bridge of his. “Take me to bed,” I whisper.
He stands, reaching for my hand to pull me up with him, and tugs me closer, skimming his lips across mine.
The pressure builds in my chest as his heart thuds against my hand.
He lifts my palm from his chest and kisses the ring on my finger before leading us to his room.
I close the door and he places me at the edge of the bed, gazing down at me, and I feel exposed. Yes, I’m physically naked, but it’s more than that. Ledger grounds me with his presence alone. Everything about him has weight — a significance.
When he looks at me, it’s like he sees all my mistakes, all of my past, and doesn’t care. He’s looking at me for the woman I am now, and his confidence in what he admires makes my chest hurt because I’m afraid it’s not real.
His large hand clasps my chin drawing it towards him. Our mouths meet and my pulse spikes as heat sparks over my skin.
I whimper into his mouth, and his hand slips behind my back, helping me up the bed.
Ledger crawls over me, our eyes locked together in a silent conversation of all the words unsaid. His hair falls forward, and I push it back, and he turns into my hand, kissing my palm.
“I’m so glad you’re okay,” I whisper.
“I didn’t realize you were so worried about me,” he says.
I lick my lips, dropping my eyes, perhaps out of embarrassment or the need to hide from my own feelings.
“I was,” I rasp.
He hums and I lift my knees to his sides.
Want presses down on us, and every muscle in my body clenches with hunger.
“Now you know how I felt when the house was vandalized.”
I blink in shock. I didn’t realize he felt like that so …early.
“Kiss me,” I beg.
He does and I don’t have anymore words. They can’t be said, but they can be felt.
Hands everywhere, chests pounding, hearts fiercely working to keep up.
