I make my way back to the motel, dragging my feet on autopilot.I feel as though someone is following me, but I don’t bother looking back.My mind is plagued with so many thoughts.Nothing makes sense anymore.

I arrive at my room, surprised that coming back here brings me comfort.

Perhaps it’s because I believe these disgusting conditions are what I deserve.

I strip off and slip under the covers.

My cell chimes, alerting me to an awaiting text.

It’s from Jupiter.

Tomorrow.

That’s all the text says.

I’ll deal with it tomorrow, tomorrow because right now, I just want to forget I exist.

It’s tomorrow when I wake.

No word from Jupiter, which doesn’t surprise me.

This is her way of making sure I’m aware she’s in control.

But she’s wrong.

The plan is to still entrap her.Whether that be by tipping off the police, or being an informant, or even wearing a fucking wire, I don’t care.I just need this to be done.

Until she reveals what her grand plan is, though, I’m at her mercy.

I didn’t give much thought to coming here.I was hoping things would be over sooner rather than later and that I could deal with the aftermath then. But the waiting is almost as bad as the unknown.

I have no desire to see my aunt and uncle. And I can’t exactly roam around town in fear I see someone I know.I believe I’ve changed enough that most wouldn’t look twice if they saw me, but I can’t risk it.

Legs and Jack could still be here.

The thought infuriates me.They’ve been able to live a normal life, knowing what they did to me.But that will soon change.

Kit hasn’t sent any more texts.

It appears he got the hint.

All in all, coming back here fucking sucks.

Sure, I can finally take back what was stolen from me, but is it worth it?What do I gain from revenge?I once believed it would fix everything, but now, I realize I’ll never truly be “better.”

I was better with Kit.

I never felt more myself.

I felt free.

Coming back here feels like taking two steps back. But to be with Kit, I need Jupiter out of our lives.I never thought my savior would turn into my tormentor.

I guess she’s my karma for all that I’ve done.

I have just over a thousand dollars in my savings. If Jupiter doesn’t appear soon, then I’ll have to think of ways to get money.I could get a job, but again, it’s too risky.A horrible thought occurs.

My aunt and uncle keep a spare key in the pot plant near the front door.My aunt hides their cash in a sugar jar in the pantry. If worse comes to worst…
