“They useanythingthey want for publicity,”Donnie continued.“I told them to expect something from the old lineup of Midnight Thunder soon.”
“And?”Ford said slowly, his mind beginning to churn as he had a horriblefeelingheknewwhat had happened.
“I used my work phone to take the video of you guys playing. It uploaded to the cloud, and the social media department have posted it to Midnight Thunder’s Instagram.”
“Oh, shit. Is it too late to take it down?”Ford asked, already knowing what the answer would be, as they had thirty million followers on Instagram.
“Yep. It’s had fifty thousand likes, and multiple news outlets have contacted us for comment.”
“Fuck,”Ford groaned. Then, he waved in apology to the couple sitting near where he stood, who had glanced at him sharply.
Stepping away from them, he walked back toward Sie, who was laughing and joking with her friends.“Well. I guess a video is one way of announcing Sie to the world.Getthe official photo from the photographer now, andgetour statement online.”
“It’s already done, the official statement is up,”Donnie reassured him.“Sorry I didn’t phone earlier, I needed to do immediate damage control.”
“That’s alright. I know it was an accident.”
“I wanted to phone you before I called Sie. I’ll phone her now.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll tell her,”Ford said.
“You’re still with her?”
“Yeah. I waited at the hospital for her.”
“Shit, yeah. Is the baby alright?”
“Yeah, he’s good.”He glanced across to Sie, who was still deep in conversation with Hel.“I’ve got to go, Donnie. Talk soon, man. Thanks for letting meknow.”
“No problem. Sorry again for the fuck up.”
“Like I said. It’s okay. I’llseeyou later.”Ford ended the phone call and immediately pulled up his Instagram to check.
The photo of the four of them was at the top of the feed. It already had twenty thousand likes and several thousand comments. The next was the video of them playing. He opened the comments and found people were going insane.
‘OMG, is that Sie?’
‘She’s alive! I thought they had killed her and covered it up.’Ford rolled his eyes.
‘What the fuck. They’ve let a girl into Midnight Thunder.’Ford guessed that was a newer fan.
‘Chicks belong in the kitchen, not on stage.’He growled when he read that one.
‘I went to their last concert. She’s better than Ryan. #bringSieback.’
Once someone started the hashtag, hesawit again and again in the comments.#bringSieback.
His eyes rose to the table and locked onto Sie. She glanced around, and when her gaze met his, she gave him a tentative smile, which soon fell off her face, and she shifted uncomfortably in her seat.
Shit, was he glaring at her?He smoothed his features and strode back over. Sitting down, he leaned and whispered into her ear.
“Sie, we’ve got a problem.”He held his phone out to her, which showed the main grid of their Instagram account.“This is Midnight Thunder’s Instagram.”
He was terrifiedit wasgoing to make her run again. He had only just found her. Heneededher to stay.
She took the phone and looked at the photo of the four of them and the statement.
“Why istherea problem? That’s what we planned, althoughit wasquick. I thoughtit wouldbe a couple of days before the picture was posted.”
