I haven't left my room all day since I got into that fight with Carlie and Sean. I stormed upstairs, locked the door, and had an embarrassingly ugly cry on the floor of my shower. It felt really therapeutic to curl up in a ball on the shower floor and just cry while the hot water rained down on me. Something about just letting the water wash away my tears until the water ran cold, it felt nice.

Showering in cold water, however, is not so nice. I should've showered myself first, then cried. A lesson for next time, I suppose. With the way my life seems to be going, I'm sure

this won't be the only time I'm hysterical on the shower floor.

I know I was never super popular, but it hurt to see my entire friend group abandon me because I think acting out a scene with a consenting partner is attractive. Doesn't everyone have a kink they're scared to admit? I mean, we've all watched the same horror movies growing up and played the same video games. The ones where the killer wears a mask and can just throw you around, the ones where the hero in the military uniform with a mask carries you off into the sunset. But it's weird when I point it out? I'm telling myself I don't care. I'm going to let myself be upset today, and tomorrow, I'll find a new place to live. Hopefully soon.

Thankfully, my dinner is still warm when I get out of the shower. The lovely ladies in the dining hall had it wrapped in several layers of foil. They have no idea how much I appreciate that, especially after the last twenty-four hours I've had.

I sink to the soft carpet in my bedroom and slowly pick at the sweet and sour tofu stir fry with rice that they had prepared for me. I feel pathetic that I'm crying while I eat my dinner, staring out my window as the world goes on around me. Maybe I am just being dramatic, but it feels like the rug is being pulled out from under me. I can't afford to live, I can't afford to eat, I haven't found a summer job, and I have to find a new place to live. All my friends now hate me, my professor bullies me, and my mother hasn't even checked in with me in months. And I never even got to eat any of the cake I bought. At least it's still waiting in the freezer for me. I'll just wait until they go out tonight and sneak downstairs to have some cake and quietly pack my things.

I turn on some stupid TV show, something mindless. I'm not even sure what's happening, I just need background noise while I dissociate and eat. I just need a distraction.

When I finally hear the front door shut and the apartment quiet, I hop up and head downstairs. I guess it's a good thing that I don't own a lot. It won't take long to pack up my cookware and my dishes. I can be done before they even get home.

My birthday is ruined all over again when I get downstairs. Someone ate my cake. Well, some of it. The rest of it is sitting on the kitchen table with what looks like bread crumbled up on top of it. Carlie not only ate the cake that cost me thirty dollars, but she ruined what little bit that was left for me. I hope she liked it...

Chapter 21

Leon's POV

Everything is set.

I scrubbed every inch of our home with a ylang-ylang and citrus cleaner, all natural like I know my girl likes. I put a vase full of flowers from the garden on the kitchen table, I cranked the AC far lower than I'm comfortable with, and I stocked the bathroom with the products I know my girl likes. She should be comfortable here.

I even let the football player go. I drugged his ass with far too much flunitrazepam and dumped him off at the hospital. Being a respected psychiatrist, I was able to walk right in with this man unconscious on my arm, claiming he was stumbling down the street. I could not simply let him go without helping him. The doctors thanked me and I got several nurses' numbers. Numbers I threw in the trash before I even made it out the door simply because they're not my Maeve. Why would they ever think I'd pick them overma petitefleur?

Overall, everything is ready at home aside from my girl being here.

I wait until it's dark out to drive over to Maeve's apartment. I know that for Saturday night, her roommates will be out partying until the bars close. So she's home alone. I hope she's okay. I need her to be okay. But I'm pissed when I realize that her roommates didn't even lock the front door. I made myself a key, but I didn't even need it. They really don't care if Maeve is safe. It's sickening. But I sneak in, seeing the apartment is pitch black. I want to pack things I know are hers, but I don't know what is hers outside of her room. Whatever, I'll just buy her new shit if she needs it.

There is a birthday cake on the kitchen table, half eaten, half melted, and there is bread smashed on top of it. So her roommates did this. They know how much my girl hates eating gluten and ruined her birthday cake. I wonder if she even got any of it. I'll have to remedy that situation myself. I know exactly what cake she had bought. I was at the store when she bought it. A vegan gluten-free strawberry cake with vegan cream cheese icing. She made sure it had some certified gluten-free seal on the packaging. She was thorough. She thought this much about her cake, and her roommate ruined it for her. Bitch.

Maeve is sound asleep when I walk into her bedroom. She's curled up in a ball, wearing a baggy t-shirt and sweatpants, and her hair is in an adorable bun that sits like a bird's nest on top of her head. She's beautiful like this. But her eyes are puffy and her face is red like she'd fallen asleep crying. Fuck. I hate that.

As carefully as possible, I slowly gather her ankles, tying them together with rope until it's secured. Next is her wrists, I very slowly collect them behind her back, tying them together snugly. She stirs when I tug on the rope to make sure it's tight enough but doesn't wake. I carefully tie the blindfold onto her face, making sure she can't see who I am yet.

Wouldn't want to ruin the surprise.

I sit back and admire my handiwork for a moment before I gently stroke her cheek a few times with my knuckles. She jolts awake, trying to move her limbs. I see the panic set in as she attempts to move free. "You're not going to scream." Iinformher. It would be easier if she didn't. But I have a plan if she does. "I'm not going to hurt you." I promise her.

I shouldn't be surprised, but my girl screams. A guttural scream from deep within her chest. Rolling my eyes, I grab the ball gag I had ready for this exact scenario and grip her chin tightly. "Open." Itellher. Oh, so now she's quiet. My girl is a firecracker. She even shakes her head no, as much as she can in my grasp.

I sigh and plug her nose. I’ll just wait until she can't hold it anymore. After a few seconds she sucks in a desperate gasp of air. That's when I shove the ball gag in. I secure it tightly on her head and let her nose go, I want her to be able to breathe. I just don't want her to wake the neighbors. "You should have been quiet. We could've talked the whole way home." I tell her, tapping her cheek lightly.

I take the chance while she's subdued to pack her things. I gather up as many clothes as I can into the bags she has in her closet, shoes in another. She won't need toiletries, I've bought everything she likes. But I grab anything that looks sentimental. Blankets, trinkets, pictures, her computer, books, clothes, shoes, and her jewelry. By the time I'm done my girl is hysterical on the bed. But her room looks empty aside from furniture.

Her roommates will just assume she moved out. She did. I approach my girl, kneeling down in front of her in bed. I stroke her cheek lightly with my knuckles while she sobs. "Don't cry. Things are only going to get better from here." I tell her calmly. I know it won't help her, I'll deal with the trauma of this later. "You're going to be a really good girl and be quiet for me, or I'm going to have to drug you. We don't want that, do we?" I ask her while my fingers still lightly trace across her smooth, warm skin.

Maeve shakes her head no, seemingly calming down. "That's my girl." Icooat her. I just need to deal with her stuff first. I take three separate trips to my car, putting her things in the trunk until there's no room left. The last bag I toss on the floor in the back seat.

I take one of her blankets and lay it across the back, adding her pillow to it as well. Just as a precaution, I make sure the child locks are on the back. She's not getting out of those ropes, but I can't be too sure when it comes to my love's safety. I jog back up the steps, seeing her still laying in a ball on her bed, still hysterical. "Alright, up you go." Itellher. I lift her up into my arms, cradling her as I walk us down the stairs. She seems to be taking things fine until we reach the door. That's when she starts to squirm and cry. I know she's going to make a scene when we get outside, even if she promises me she won't.

So now I don't have a choice, I have to drug her. Fuck.
