I’ve put my feelings for Hannah on the backburner because, above all else, I want her to be happy. Hell, I want Mac to be happy too. He deserves better than his whore of an ex-wife, and there’s no one better than Hannah. In my eyes, she’s perfect.

I’ve stayed in my own lane; I don’t want to lose either one of them if shit goes south. Trying to be a good friend to them both, I’ve remained neutral and played Switzerland, even though I could’ve bashed his face in last season when he was fucking with her head. And though I have no intentions of making a move or betraying Sean, the one thing I can’t seem to do is stay away fromher.

Which leads us to Cameron Graham.

Needing a fix to soothe the ache in my chest, I peel off onto the side street, leading away from the dealership, and dial her up. The phone rings and rings. Just before I hang up, she answers with a muffled, “Hello.”

“Why do you sound like you’re under water?”

“Because I’m stuffing a big fat juicy cheeseburger with lots and lots of grilled onions into my mouth.”

I blanch at the thought of onions. “Eww.”

“Yum. What do you want?”

“For you to choke me out with your sexy ass thighs.” I shift into fifth gear and gun it onto the highway in the direction of her house. “Pull your car out of the garage so I can pull in. I want your pussy on my face, not your brother’s fist.”

“I can’t even with you,” she laughs.

“And after you cum on my face, we can try out the tilt-a-whirl.”

“Oh my god!” She laughs harder.

“You’re gonna be screaming ‘Oh my God’ later when I take you on the ride of your life.”

“Where the hell do you come up with this shit?” Her laughtercontinues to ring out through my car speakers, but then the sound trails off, and she becomes somber. “You know it’s probably not going to work? We’ve tried. It never works.”

“We’re gonna keep trying until you get there, Sunshine. You were so close last time. Stop beating yourself up, okay? It’s not you, it’s the trauma.”

“It’s been over a decade. My g-spot is broken.”

“Don’t underestimate me, fucking dammit. I’m a sex god.” She giggles again, and the sound sends a little foreign shock through me. “Your g-spot isn’t broken, babe. We just need to find a way to get you out of your head.”

“Speaking about being in your head, how was bike shopping with Hannah?”

“I’m calling you. How do you think it went?”

“You know the best way to get over her is to put a little distance between you two and stop doing boyfriend things for her.”

Looking into my rearview, I turn on my blinker to exit and release a sigh. “I know. Sean seemed upset that I was there negotiating on her behalf.”

“Do you blame him? He’s trying to get her back, but every time he turns around, you’re in his face.”

“Again, I know. Thankfully, he doesn’t know how I feel about her and he never will.”

“Doesn’t matter. I bet he still feels like you’re getting in his way. We’ve had this conversation more than once. I know you wanted to stay out of it, but next time she calls or texts, don’t make yourself so available. Maybe then she’ll go to him.”

“Or she’ll come to you . . .”

“She might. But the more space you put between you two, the easier it’ll be to get over her.”

Pulling up to a stop light, I look over at the car next to me. An old lady with short, light blue hair turns her head in my direction, and I lower my window, tossing her a wink. She smiles back and waves. I blow her a kiss, and she blows one right back.

Well, fuck me, Granny, aren’t you a flirty little minx?

“Aiden, did you hear me? What are you doing?”

“Flirting with the grandma in the car next to me.” I laugh, raising my window back up.
