Mina didn’t noticethe limo through her tears until they were about to enter it.She saw Macy waiting by the back door and gave a little surprised cry and ran to him.Macy smiled and hugged her.He patted her gently on the shoulder.She took a step back, smiled, and wiped her tears.
Macy looked over her head at the men.“Everything taken care of?”Macy asked in a low growl.
Koa and Jon nodded.They’d never seen that murderous look on their friend’s face before.They knew the man was a badass and had done things he’d never speak of, but he’d always been calm with them.
“She won’t ever have to deal with that again,” Jon said.
Macy cleared his throat and hugged the little woman one more time before walking them to the back of the car.He opened the door and waited.
“Why can’t I ride up with you again?”
Koa and Jon scowled.
Macy chuckled.“I think your men would rather have you in the back with them.You can ride up with me another time.”
She smiled and crawled into the back.
The men waited for her to settle in before they turned to Macy.
“What the hell?”Jon growled.
Macy rolled his eyes at their jealousy.
“You know I’m the last man you need to worry about.I’m old enough to be her grandfather, for God’s sake.I think she sees me as a father figure.”
Koa relaxed and nodded.“I get it,” he said and took a step toward the limo.
Macy cleared his throat.“By the way, boys.If you hurt that girl, you’ll have me to deal with.”
Jon snorted.“Jesus, Macy.You’ve known us for decades and her less than a day.”
Macy smiled.“Mina is one of the sweetest girls I’ve ever met, and she accepted me from the beginning.She never looked or acted terrified of me, as most people do.She’s the daughter I always dreamed of having.”
Koa and Jon glanced at each other.
Jon nodded.“We won’t hurt her.”
Macy nodded and held up a hand.“I don’t see that happening either, but I just had to say my peace.”
Koa grinned and slapped Macy on the shoulder before ducking into the car.

Koa maneuvered Minain the back seat, so she’d be situated in the middle of them.Jon sat down very close to her, with his thigh touching hers.She almost groaned at the heat she felt through her pants.
Mina looked from one to the other.“What are you guys doing here?”
“We came to see you,” Jon replied.
Her brows lowered in confusion before she shook her head and then bit back a moan and pressed on her temples.They drove a few blocks when the realization hit her, making her gasp.
“What is it, pet?”Koa asked and laid a hand on her thigh.
She bit her lip, carefully shook her head, and then grimaced when a spike of pain hit her in the head.They’d done enough for her.Now she just needed to go home, rest, and try to get rid of the headache that made her whole body, even her teeth, ache.
“Nothing.”
Jon gently turned her head to face him with his hand.“Remember what we said about lying?”
