“No, no, it’s nothing to do with that. You know that book you read? The biker one.”

I nod, wondering where the hell she’s going with this.“Yeah? How did you know?Is it because I did that exact scene when we were in bed?”

“I saw it on your phone,” she admits, smirking.“I wrote that book.I’m an author, I just haven’t told anyone. You’re the first person.I saw Ora reading my book, and I didn’t even say anything.I know I write about bikers, but it’s all fiction. There’s nothing real in there that could give anything away about the Serpents.”

My eyes widen.“You wrote all that filthy sex?”

She nods, shrugging.“I have a big imagination.”

My lip twitches.“Xanthe, that book was amazing.I read it all, and I usually don’t read romance. You’re so talented.”This isnotwhat I thought she was going to say.“I’m going to read them all and make those hot scenes a reality. No more living in your head.I’m going to give you everything.”

She smiles, and I smile back.

“I can’t believe you’ve been writing best-selling novels and not telling anyone. How did Blade not pick that up?He usually runs background checks on everyone.”

She shrugs and tilts her head to the side.A curious look appears on her beautiful face.“I’m not sure, but I do use a pen name. You’ll have to ask him, but I’m glad that it’s all out now.It did kind of feel like I’ve been living a double life.”

“I want you to read a scene out to me while I do everything you say,” I rasp, and her eyes turn hooded.

Yeah, she likes that.

And fuck, my old lady is smart, sexy, and loving.

Just like I thought, the seasons changed.

And now all I have is sunshine.

EPILOGUE

Bones

“Where are you going?”I ask Xanthe, who looks cute as hell in a long yellow dress.

“We’re going to the cemetery to see Ghost’s sister, Charlotte,” she explains, sitting down next to me.“How’s your arm?”

“It’s okay.”I shrug.I mean, I’m alive, so I can’t really complain.Honestly, I’ve been struggling a little recently, and Xanthe is the only one who has noticed.

I think Skull knows, but he doesn’t know what to do about it.It’s not his fault, and I don’t blame him.I love seeing him happy, and Isla is perfect for him. She’s a great mother to Natalia, and I’ve become very close to her.

But I still do feel like I’m on the outside looking in.I fit in with them, and at the same time, I don’t.We do not have a very conventional situation, and if I’m being honest, I love Isla, but I miss my brother.

“Have you thought about going to see Meredith?”she asks me quietly.“You know it can be nice talking to someone neutral. And it’s all confidential. It’s not like here, when the next day everyone already knows everything.”

My lip twitches.I’m not going to admit it to her, but I have thought about it.

Maybe she’s right.Maybe I need someone to give me an unbiased opinion on my situation and suggest some options for me to consider.

Pressing a soft kiss to her forehead, I say, “Thank you for seeing me, Xanthe.”

Her lower lip trembles.“Of course.I’m always here for you.”

Ghost appears at the door, and she goes off with him.I didn’t even know he had a sister who had passed away.Xanthe has turned him into a new man.

He throws me a dirty look before he leaves.Okay, maybe he hasn’t changed all that much.

The next day, I ask Blade to get all the information he can on her.

If I’m going to be sharing my inner thoughts with someone, I want to know everything about her first. How else will I know if I can trust her?
