“You don’t get to ask nobody questions,” I told Milan, then looked at Nia. “I’ll be with you shortly.”
She grabbed her plate of wings and mac and left out.
Milan laughed. “You keep a big girl in the tuck.”
“You jealous?”
“Absolutely not. You’re just running through the whole friend circle, huh? You think Sade gon’ like you after she finds out you fucked all her friends?”
“You think it’s a flex that you think you know my business?”
She snickered. “Yup, because if people knew you been a fuckin’ stalker, it would stop everything. Let everybody know why you really ended things.”
“Let them know you were having an affair with my broke ass cameraman? Is that what you said?”
“Nah, that you’ve been following that girl’s life without her knowing.” She folded her arms.
“That a crime? The crime was that you hacked my shit after I told you we were done. Now, why the fuck are you here?”
“You paid my rent for four years, and they are trying to evict me.”
I smirked. “Get a job. Go back to working at Louis Vuitton.”
“I didn’t have to work when I was with you, Vaughn. That was four years with no job. I need time.”
“You came in here with your thong on fire, then want me to pay your rent? You delusional. I’m not a trick.”
“I didn’t say you were a trick. You said I ain’t have to work. You said we was gon’ get married. You promised me a lifestyle I can’t maintain on my own. You’re fucking up my image with this.”
“So you’re broke. You ain’t save none of the money you stole from me? Thought you were smarter than that.”
She frowned. “I didn’t steal… You gave me access.”
“Too much access.”
“So now that you know I’m broke, can you please help me? I don’t want to go back to my parents.”
“You’re thirty-four, Milan.”
“I’m not asking to be back with you… just to not be on the damn street.”
I huffed. “You got two months left out of me.”
“That’s all I need.”
“And keep ya mouth closed. You too invested in shit that ain’t got nothing to do with you.”
She walked up and kissed me without asking.
“Your lil’ secret is safe with me… if I can get some of you one last time.”
I pushed her back. “Don’t blackmail me with dick. I’ll pay your rent directly. Now leave.”
She left with no last words.
I called my receptionist to tell Nia to come back in and to warm my food up. I needed a reset.
Nia came back in, didn’t speak on anything, and I was glad of that. I locked the door and moved on.
