I stood over the gifts and wondered if I was doing the right thing with Yani. I would get a nut from women and not think twice about them but with Yani, she was the first woman I found myself wanting to invest in. Without knowing too much about her I was locked in. The way her heart cried out for genuineness and reciprocation… I couldn’t walk away. I knew I could provide it and protect her heart from heartbreak in the future.
Shaking off the confusion, I packed up my gifts, the files I would need to work on, and took my ass the hell home. I neededa damn moment alone and I wasn’t going to have that as long as I was accessible. I was leaving with a lot on my mind.
&
“Am I calling at a bad time?”
Her voice was still so soft and angelic. Whether I was busy or not, I would make time for her. She was beginning to become a priority.
“Nah. I’m just out on a date beautiful. What’s up?”
“A date? Wow. Uhm, okay.”
Suddenly, I was no longer on a connected call. Yani hung up in my face and I had to laugh from clocking out. She didn’t ask questions and I guess I chose the wrong set of words but still, her rude response wasn’t necessary.
“Dang bro. Did she just hang up on you? I can only imagine how hot she is.” Patience was entertained by Yani’s reaction, but I wasn’t.
“Let it go, Patience. It is what it is.”
I wouldn’t clear anything up for Yani either. She could’ve spoke her mind but instead she responded childlike. I got that her mind took it there, but we were too grown to not act maturely. I was open book and wasn’t hiding anything.
“Anyway, record me bowling and make sure you get yourself in it too. I get more views with you in it.”
I did like she asked with no questions. If I didn’t, she was going to whine and then I would become aggravated. The best way to deal with the spoiled women in my life was to give them what they wanted.
“Out bowling with lil sis. You know the vibes. One of the best dates a nigga done been on in a while. Ain’t that right, Pay?”I flipped the camera to her approaching me throwing up gang with a smile.
“I love you bro.”
The video came out to be cute and not even a minute after posting to her story on Instagram, I was getting notifications with the video hitting all the blogs. They flipped the story within seconds and now I was cheating on Yani with Patience. I shook my head and put my phone away. It was a reason I didn’t fuck with social media.
I gave my attention back to Pay and continued with our date. It was normal for us to go on dates. She didn’t have many friends due to her being related to a billionaire. Every chick she did have as one switched up on her and left her to her lonesome except for two. One thing about lil’ sis though, she didn’t mind.
We were raised to be genuine people, but we weren’t no fools. I told her ahead of time that her friends weren’t really her friends and she found that out over the years. People only wanted her around for beneficial reasons. She was their cash cow, but she wised up and stuck to what she knew best, me and the two who were still by her side.
After running through several games, I finally gave my attention back to my phone and noticed a few missed calls from Yani as well as text. I read the text first and quickly realized she saw what was posted. She was apologizing nonstop, and I really didn’t want to give it any acknowledgment. She would’ve stayed mad or whatever if the story wasn’t posted. I didn’t have time for it. I ignored it and cleared out all notifications. I was enjoying someone who hadn’t second guessed a thing I told her.
“You ready bro. I think mama said she wanted us to meet with the event planner. I think she said her name was Dawn Sullivan. She said she was supposed to be the best around.”
“Dawn? This can’t be no coincidence. Yeah, let’s go.”
“You know her or something?” she asked as we walked out the door to the car.
“Nah, but Jo said he started dating this chick named Dawn and how many women do you know with a name like that? This world getting smaller and smaller.”
We made it to the location my mother wanted her party to be held at and made our way inside. She was in the middle of a discussion with a gorgeous brownskin woman. If she was the Dawn that my brother was fooling with, then he chose nicely.
I walked over and interrupted their conversation giving my mother the biggest hug. The woman stepped back holding a smile on her face not minding the interruption. She waited patiently until she was spoken to.
“I love you son, but you know I raised you better than that. Now apologize.” My mother slapped my chest, and I did like she asked.
Turning around, I said, “I’m sorry. I’m Paxton, and you are?”
“Dawn Sullivan, and you’re fine. I don’t mind. I’ve heard great things about you from your mother. She speaks highly of you.”
“She’s only speaking highly of me because I’m cutting the checks.” She giggled and showed a pearly smile. Josiaha caught a nice one.
“Well, so far, I was speaking with her about her vision and her budget. Does she have one?” I shook my head from side to side. “Are you sure? I can get a little crazy when the budget is open.”
