“He don’t like chaos, Pay, so he tries to keep her satisfied. Don’t fault him for not going against her. He ain’t never been that kind of man.”
“Stick up for your kids though dude. Hen ain’t never apologized for shit she says or even checked her about her mouth. I know he loves us, but damn nigga put yo’ wife in her place some damn time.”
She had a point. Pops ain’t never really stood up for us. He let our mother run the show as he just pretty much provided. Whatever Henrietta said, he stood beside her. He had no backbone when it came to her.
“I’ll handle it, Pay. Don’t let this fuck with you, a’ight? We know what’s going on so don’t sweat it.”
“Can we talk about something else? Talking about her gon’ piss me off.” I nodded and she took another shot.
“Who is ole girl you been kicking it with?”
“Her name is Yani Hart. We doing some business together.”
“Business expanded to the bedroom for pleasure, huh? She’s pretty.”
“Yeah, it did and ’preciate it.”
“Nigga you saying ’preciate it like she yo’ woman already. Y’all dating?”
“You can say that. We only been on a few dates but with each one we getting closer and closer. She asked me to drop by tonight, so I’ll be over there.”
“This is big. You haven’t really shown any interest in a woman since Thalia died. Are you ready for this?”
I was but then again, I wasn’t. Yani was a different breed, and I didn’t know how to approach her at times. She made me nervous, but I witnessed me doing the same for her. She was a sweet person and I felt like I could handle that.
Her heartbreak wasn’t as fresh as it was when I met her, and she was opening up to me about it from time to time. I learned a lot about her past relationship which made me want to show her the difference in dealing with me. I wasn’t her last and he damn sure couldn’t amount to the type of man I was.
“I’m taking it a day at a time. She’s a good woman so I’m not trying to scare her away with my possessiveness yet,” I jested.
“I want to pick her brain so host a dinner party or something. Plus, from what I saw, she already got a relationship with mama, so it seems like you met your wife. Thalia was the fiancé and that was cool and all, but I think she only had that because of Tiana. I’m not judging though.”
She called it how she saw it and she wasn’t lying. I did propose to Thalia because of how long we had been together and the child we had. She was my comfortability. It was aged love that we held for each other. We had been together since middle school and stuck with it.
Several times I was told by friends and family that they thought Thalia and I weren’t going to make it for too much longer. When we were good, we were great, but when were bad…
“Hold your tongue Pay. She was still apart of this family. Y’all fought but she loved you.”
“We tolerated each other Pax. There’s a difference. This new one though, she has you smiling more than ever these days. I want to see what kind of vibe she has.”
“I can arrange something. Are you going to put this on your story cause even though I’m cool with being all over yo’ social media, she might not be.”
“I might do a few videos. Just check with her to see if she okay with it. I promise it won’t be nothing crazy or anything.”
“I got you. Have I made you feel any better or we still need to finish the bottle and have the car come pick us up?”
“I’m good. I won’t get you fucked up since you said you’re easing over to her crib later. I’ll let Yani handle that. I do appreciate you for listening.”
“You know I will always have your back lil one.” We stood and engaged in another hug. “I love you Pay.”
“I love you too bro. I guess I’ll see you whenever you make it home.”
“Indeed sis.”

This was my first time at Yani’s crib, and I had to say, from the outside appearance, I was impressed. While I lived in a mansion twice this size, hers fit her. She never gave off the materialistic vibes, so I expected nothing more.
I rung her bell and waited for her to greet and invite me in. When I seen her approaching through her glass door, she looked stunning in the red lingerie set she sported.
