Of course, I still have love for Mikael. He was my first love but that didn’t mean I was stillinlove with him. I cared about him and his wellbeing. I wanted him to have a great life and all that other stuff. Beyond that I didn’t see working out for Mikael and me. Too much stuff had been said and done for us to be able to rekindle the love we had back then.
“Okay, preacher Yanna. I hear you.”
“I’m just saying,” She shrugged her shoulders.
“Ki-, Hey! Solana!” I cut myself off when I saw Solana walking past our table. She looked confused for a second and then she saw me waving her over.
A smile formed as she walked back over to our table. “Hey! We keep running into each other. This might be a sign,” she joked as she waved at Yanna.
“It must be,” I giggled, standing up to hug her. “This is my sister Yanna, Yanna this is Solana.”
“Nice meeting you,” Solana said, shaking Yanna’s hand.
“Same, I like that Loui,” Yanna complemented Solana’s checkered brown suede barrel style Louis Vuitton purse.
“Thank you, it was a birthday present,” Solana upper lip curled as she looked down at the bag. “It’s cute but costs too much money. I wanted to resale it forreal, but Marlo wasn’t having it.” Solana rolled her eyes to the ceiling.
“Oooh, you with Lo?” Yanna asked with a sneaky smile. “I see y’all sister-in laws that’s cute.” Yanna knew Lo because she was always around when Mikael and I were together. They never did anything, Yanna always said Lo was too pretty for her. She liked her niggas a little funny looking.
“No,” Solana looked at me shocked as a red tint spread across her cheeks. “Me and Marlo are friends.” She unconvincingly said. From her pressed lips, Yanna didn’t believe her.
“Shoo I need me a friend that’s gone buy me a thousand dollar purse too. Ask Lo if he needs any more friends.” Yanna teased Solana.
“Don’t mind my sister she ain’t right in the head. You getting something to eat?” I asked looking up at Solana.
“Well,um, I’m picking up food for me,” Solana hesitated as her checks grew redder. “Marlo and the girls.” She shyly mumbled the last part. “But it’s not ready yet. So, I was gonna go wait in my car until it was ready.”
“You a real good friend.” Yanna snicked before taking a sip of her wine. “You might as well shit us and have a drink with me since somebody is making me drink alone.” Yanna cut her eyes at me.
I scooted over in my seat to allow Solana to sit next to me. “I told you it tasted weird.”
“Tell me do this wine taste weird,” Yanna said as she poured a glass of wine for Solana, then hand her the wine glass. “Or is it Zaylee tripping?”
We watched Solana take a drink from her glass, anxiously waiting for her answer.
“That’s actually really good,” Solana said in between her taking another drink of the wine.
“See!” Yanna exclaimed, pressing her lips together knowingly. “That nigga got you all fucked up.”
“Who? Mikael?” Solana questioned curiously.
“Mhmm,” Yanna answered for me.
“Marlo told me y’all were high school sweethearts. It would be dope if y’all got back together.”
“Fuck him,” Was my reply to Solana.
“Girl, don’t listen to her. She been in her feelings behind the nigga for the last two days.”
“Fuck you, too.” I said flipping Yanna off for telling my business. I liked Solana but I didn’t know if she was the type to run back and repeat stuff.
“Well looking on the outside in, the way his face lit up when he saw you in the shop, spoke volumes and you looked back at him the same way. My mama used to always say the eyes don’t lie.” Solana said.
“Facts,” Yanna co-signed sipping her wine.
“I don’t like you two together.” I said pointing between Solana and Yanna. “I feel like this is tag team Zaylee day.” I joked fake groaning and we all shared a laugh together.
After that we talked like three friends who grew up together. I could see myself getting to know Solana more. She wasn’t uptight and didn’t try do the most. I love how real Solana came off as. She wasn’t scared to share her thoughts on things while still being respectful towards our opinions. The conversation with her flowed effortlessly. She stayed well past the thirty minute time limit. Marlo had called her three separate times to see what was taking her so long. She finally decided to reluctantly leave when Sunshyne got on the phone swearing shewas starving. We’d all just exchanged numbers, Solana had my phone and I had hers. I just finished typing my number in when I saw her eyes go wide. She looked up at me, back down to my phone, then back at me. Her mouth was wide open in shock.
