“Well, I’m not. Someone promised us Chinese,” Jade panted.

“Ooh. I could go for Chinese.”

Matt chuckled. “Me, too.”

“And no one wants a hangry Jade.” Rosie giggled.

Jade grinned. “You’re damn straight.”

They laughed and teased each other over rice and various entrees from Hot Won Ton down the street. Settling between Matt’s legs as they sat on the floor, Rosie looked around the living room at her found family. It had grown again, and she hoped soon they would grow some more. Mia and Jade deserved to be just as happy as she was. Matt nuzzled her hair and rested his bearded chin on top of her head.

Whatever life threw at them, they’d face it together.
