“Okay, can I be honest for a second? You were worried about one male’s attention five minutes ago. Every red-blooded, straight male in the room, and probably most of the gay ones, is going to notice you,” Adele said.

“As well as the ladies,” Carrie piped up. “’Cause, girl, you’re not my type, but my brain is asking why you’re straight.”

Aurora’s cheeks turned bright pink as she glanced in the mirror. “I was just having fun with the red carpet theme.”

“You could wear this down an actual red carpet in Hollywood and be all over the news the next day, Aurora,” Stacey said with conviction.

“It is that good,” Lizzie mused. “Are you sure it’s going to be what you want?”

“I’ll be more comfortable getting stares in this than waterproof underwear. Plus, all the women will be wearing a gown. The dress code is black tie.”

“You make a good point.” Adele nodded, thoughtful. “I’m not saying don’t wear it. If I had that dress, I would wear it to the goddamn grocery store. You worked too hard not to wear it wherever you want.”

“Well, I can’t go buy another dress. It’s six weeks away, and I’d have to rush order something.”

“Wear the dress and enjoy the attention. You deserve it.”

The others nodded in agreement with Lizzie. “Turn around. I’ll unzip you.”

Once the zipper was down, Aurora shimmied back out of the dress and carefully placed it on the dress form.

Lizzie changed the subject. “What does Duncan look like these days?”

“Like himself, but older. And with longer hair. Let me get my phone out of my pants, and I’ll show you.”

Aurora pulled out her phone once her jeans were back on and pulled up her Skype app. “There he is.” She handed the phone to Lizzie while she tried to find her shirt.

“Um, why is it ringing?”

“My phone is on silent; it shouldn’t be ringing.” Aurora took the phone back right as Duncan came live on the screen.

Duncan was watching a movie and eating dinner on his couch when his laptop rang next to him. Pausing his movie, he saw he had a video call from goddessofthebrokendawn. He answered it instantly; it greeted him with another close-up of Aurora, but this time from under her breasts. She was wearing nothing but a red lace bra. His mouth watered as he took in the sight of her naked skin behind the peek-a-boo fabric. He was staring, his mind wiped blank. Before he could gather his wits, she shrieked, and the phone flew through the air. Her shriek echoed in multitudes. Then another familiar face came on the screen.

“Hi, Duncan. It’s Lizzie, Aurora’s little sister? Apparently, I video-called you on her phone by accident. Oops.”

“Hi, Lizzie. It’s fine,” he chuckled, shifting his laptop over his arousal. “How have you been?”

“I’m peachy. A group of us are hanging out at Aurora’s house. She was telling us about the reunion.”

“How many of you are there?” Duncan peered at her through the screen.

“Um, Stacey, you have the longest arms?”

The phone moved back, and Duncan could see Lizzie and three other women he didn’t recognize standing in what appeared to be a messy pink bedroom.

“Duncan, this is Stacey, Adele, and Carrie.”

The girls waved and greeted Duncan as Lizzie introduced them. A throat cleared in the background.

“Lizzie!”

“Nice seeing you again. Take care!” Lizzie disappeared, and Aurora was back on screen, fully dressed in a gray tee, telling her friends she’d meet them downstairs.

“Sorry about that.”

“Don’t worry about it. I’m not doing anything important.” He took another bite.

“Interrupting your dinner?”
