“You can go faster now.”

“You’re sure?” Duncan paused, mid-thrust.

“Please.”

All it took was that one barely audible, breathy plea, and his control was shattered. Leaning into the bed, Duncan thrust fast and hard, her lilting soprano voice spurring him on. Her nails clawed her need into his back. Her hips pushed back against his, again and again and again. Her cries grew louder as she twitched and spasmed around him, and her back arched her breasts into his chest. When she found her release and screamed his name, he erupted.

Aurora floated on a plush cloud until an obnoxious beep erupted from her phone. Weary eyes forced themselves to open as she picked up the phone. Seven in the morning. Why had she set the alarm for seven? Oh, right, Katie’s college visit. She turned off the alarm and heard a sleepy groan in her ear. Duncan had his arm wrapped around her naked waist, pressing her to him. Sinking into the soft pillow, she turned her head to look at him.

He opened one eye. “Good morning, beautiful.”

“Good morning yourself.” She stifled a giggle; she was sure she looked like something out of a horror show. “So much for keeping me up all night, hmm?”

“I may have overestimated how much energy I had last night.” Duncan nuzzled her neck.

“You won’t hear me complain. I have to take Katie to see a college today.”

“Guess I’m stuck with Mike and Emily taking me back to the airport.”

“Oh.” Aurora’s heart sank. Of course he’d be leaving right away.

“Hey …” Duncan cupped her face. “Don’t be sad.”

“You mean, ‘Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened?’“

“No. Not that at all.” He propped himself up on one elbow. “When I said I loved you, I meant it. This”—he pointed from her to himself and back again—“is no ‘moment in the woods.’”

She smiled at theInto the Woodsreference.

“I don’t know how this is going to work, but I’m sure it involves a lot of airline miles.”

“I never thought I could feel like this again,” she said in wonder.

He leaned down and kissed her. Then their text alerts went off at the same time.

Jen: Who wants to meet up in the cafe for breakfast in an hour?

Aurora looked back at Duncan. “We should go. So you can see everyone before you leave.”

He nibbled her ear. “Maybe I’d rather stay in bed.”

Giggling, she playfully pushed him off of her. “Well, I’m starving, and I need to shower. I never even took off my makeup.” She rose out of bed and looked around for her panties.

“Well, your lipstick is off.” He grinned.

“A lip tattoo would not have survived last night!”

That made him laugh—a sight and sound that Aurora knew would never get old.

Her tone softened. “We really should go down.”

“Alright, alright.” Duncan threw the covers off and rolled out of bed.

“Oh my God.” She started laughing out loud.

“What? What’s so funny?”

“I’ve never, and I meanever”—she held Duncan’s gaze—“done the walk of shame.”
