“What are you doing here?” He leaned his arms on the top of the door, cocking his head at me.
“I just thought you might want some company. Or a hug.”
“You in my shower will lead to a different kind of hug,mi princesa. And I don’t think that’s very appropriate right now.” A smirk pulled on his lips and mischief gleamed in his eyes.
I knew he was hurting, but he looked almost happy in that moment.
“You should hurry up a little more anyway. We have a long way home.” It was too late to stop by the hospital and visit his dad. As far as I’d been told, Tobias was in a critical condition but no longer in surgery.
Reece sighed softly. “I think I’ll stay at Colin’s tonight—if that’s okay with you, I mean.”
“Of course.”
“You know, we’re engaged, so Colin can’t say you’re not allowed to stay there with me.”
“Did he ever say—” Both of our heads snapped toward the door as chatter started to echo through the room.
Panicked, Reece opened the door to his shower and pulled me inside.
“I’m getting all wet!” I shrieked as my clothes began to soak with water.
“It’s okay. I have a change of clothes for you in my car.” They were all his clothes, I was sure of that, but it didn’t matter.
I shook my head at him, eyes wide with horror as the voices got louder. “You can’t keep me in here for like… hours. Wet.”
“Say wet one more time, Brooke, I dare you.”
“Wet.”
“You’re lucky we’re not at home right now, otherwise I woul?—”
The voices got louder, but since I knew my head wasn’t looking over the door or the sides of the shower, I didn’t bother to duck down.
I never understood why they didn’t just install entirely closed-off showers instead of half walls. The doors and walls started at the bottom of the floor, so nobody could see our feet, but they only went up like five feet something. Like I said, taller than me, but not high enough for tall people.
Reece turned my face toward him, leaned down, and quickly pressed a kiss to my lips before he pushed my head down and forced me to kneel.
“If anyone leans over, they’ll still see the top of your head,” he explained when I looked up at him, frowning. “Ah, fuck, don’t look at me like that from down there.”
“What the fuck, Carter,” someone said as he obviously entered the room.
I froze in place. In theory, I knew I wasn’t visible to anyone, but if, for some very weird reason, someone opened the door… what would they think I was doing?
I knelt in front of my fiancé—mynakedfiancé, who seemed to find this whole thing a bit more exciting than I thought.
If I wanted to, I could’ve easily done something to annoy Reece a little, but I figured I was going to be nice today and just wait this out down here. My knees were going to be dead by the time all of Reece’s teammates were gone, but itwas a price I now had to pay for sneaking inside the locker room.
Reece leaned forward, resting his arms back on the door as he looked at whoever tried to talk to him. If I hadn’t turned my head away in that very second, I would’ve had his dick in my face.
“Where was all this enthusiasm two days ago?” the guy asked. It wasn’t Ming, that much I knew. “You have a massive fire inside of you and you only now decided to let it out? How dare you?”
“It’s not always there,” Reece replied.
“We won, Reece, eight to zero. That’shuge. What was the difference tonight?”
“Had a fight with Brooke, I was just mad.” While I was sure the smugness in his voice wasn’t audible to his teammate, I could very much hear it. I figured he wasn’t going to talk about his dad yet, but seriously? A fight with me? “You know how it is, right, Denton? Girlfriends. They’re so dramatic for nothing.”
Alright, that was it.
