My stomach was in knots, but I didn’t want to tell Genesis that. I didn’t want him to think I didn’t trust him, because that wasn’t the case.

“We’ll check in every hour if that will make you feel better. And don’t hesitate to call me if you want. We’ll be fine. Ain’t that right, princess?” He tickled Paris, and like she did any other time, she giggled.

“Okay.”

I walked over and kissed the top of Paris’s head. I went to walk away, but Genesis grabbed my arm.

“Daddy don’t get no kiss?”

He puckered his lips, and I giggled as heat shot through my body.

I leaned down and gave him a quick kiss.

“You lucky my princess is watching. Our time is coming, though.” He winked. “See you later.”

He turned his focus on Paris, so I quietly left the room. I didn’t want her to see me, then cry, even though she hardly paid me any attention when Genesis was around.

I gathered what I needed, then left the house. I thought about what Genesis said about our time coming. It seemed like the more he came around, the hornier I got. I couldn’t wait for the day when that time came.

“Man,you couldn’t hire any movers?” Devin fussed as he placed a box in the middle of the room. “I know you got it.” He sat on the box and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

“Nah, I thought it’ll be a nice way for us to bond,” I joked, then took a swig of my water.

With Paris and London in my life, I needed more space. I wanted to buy a house but decided to wait. The fast pace that London and I went, I felt like we would be moving together sooner than either of us expected.

Regardless, I needed more space because I wanted Paris to have her own room whenever she came over. I would always want London there, too, but I knew she needed time to herself sometimes. I spent as much time with them as possible, butessentially, London was the one with Paris majority of the time. She deserved a break at times.

“I can’t believe you got a baby and a new place and shit. Look at Genesis growing up,” Vincent teased as he sat on the floor.

I planned on buying all new furniture, so for the time being, we only had boxes and the floor to sit on.

“I’m a real man now.” I smirked, and the three of us laughed.

I now had someone that would look up to me, and I wanted to be a good example. Her standards would be high based on the way I treated her and her mother. I had to be her protector and nurturer, and I would do the best I could because I never wanted her to look elsewhere. I refused to let my daughter grow up with daddy issues.

“On some real shit, G, I’m happy for you. My niece is so pretty, and she got me ready to add a few more guns to my collection,” Vincent said.

Paris had Vincent and Devin wrapped around her fingers just as much as she had me. London had me too. I really enjoyed spending time with them. London and I would talk about things while I played with Paris. I also helped with Paris’s nighttime routine. The highlight of my day was being able to read her bedtime stories and tuck her in.

“Thanks. I appreciate y’all for helping me. Just always being there for me.”

Even when I lived in another state, I could count on them for whatever. They checked on my parents for me and made sure they had what they needed. They helped me get my job and the first place I got when I returned. They came out and visited at times, but it was different. I liked being able to call them to shoot hoops or some shit. Men needed friendship just as women did. It was more important now that Paris and London were in my life. I knew I could trust Vincent and Devin to look out for them if it ever came a time that I couldn’t.

“We got you, G. Next time you want to move, though, get somebody else to do that shit,” Devin said as he stood. “Let’s get the rest of this stuff so I can wash my ass. Got me out here sweating and shit,” he fussed as he walked out the front door.

Vincent shook his head, then stood. “That’s ya mans.”

I chuckled. “I agree, though, ’cause I have to go spend some time with my girls.” A smile spread across my face.

“Look at ya sap ass. Come on.”

We met outside with Devin, where he was still fussing. He could talk shit all he wanted to, as long as he helped.

The three of us spent a little while longer unloading the moving truck I had. I didn’t have too much stuff since I was in a smaller space. I needed to baby proof the place too.

When we were done, I went to my old place to shower and get ready for the rest of my day. I also called to give the furniture place the correct information. I had a couple of weeks before I needed to be out of my old place, so I had time to ensure everything was perfect for the first time my girls came over.

Since London knewI would be moving stuff all day, she told me she wasn’t going to bother me, and even though I told her she could never be a burden, she didn’t call me all day. I missed her voice, so I called her, even though I was on my way to her place.
